Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Excellent BnB, attentive and friendly service from owners Ashley & Allan. We were made to feel really welcome. Great attention to detail, with lots of much appreciated little touches. Well cooked breakfast. Perfect location in the centre of town but tucked away, so really peaceful. Would thoroughly recommend.

We were happy with everything.
The location was very central. The hosts were very very friendly and hospitable. The room was very clean and spacious. The hotel itself had a lovely ambience. There were also extra touches, cream tea on our arrival. The breakfast was very tasty lots of it and always served with a smile. Ashley and Alan are to be commended on their service.

The only thing we can think of is that there is a slight hill to walk up to the get to the house so if anyone has mobility issues this may prove a little difficult . However we just walked up very slowly and it was fine .
The hosts Allan & Ashley were very welcoming and greeted us with tea & cakes on arrival which was delicious as well as a sherry in our room which was a nice touch !. They made us feel at home straight away and nothing was too much trouble . The house is beautiful & elegantly furnished to a high standard and the cottage garden is amazing with an abundance of so many flowers & shrubs with tables & chairs to relax in! Our room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was lots of choice at breakfast and the cooked breakfast was excellent. The house is a few minutes walk from the village centre and close to the NYMR station and other points of interest in the area. This is one of the best B& Bs we have stayed in and we hope to return at some point .

It is a beautiful property that has been renovated to a very high standard. It has a beautiful garden and you receive a lovely warm welcome with tea and cake. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were wonderful

Nothing. We loved every bit of the experience.
Everything at this property was perfect. Fantastic bedrooms, fabulous breakfasts, a lovely little bar and all in a great location. None of these though was the star of the show. Nor was it the free parking. That accolade goes to the owners Alan and Ashley. Nothing was too much trouble for this pair, truly nothing. Alan, the breakfast chef - amongst other things, treated us to the most equisite food. All perfectly fresh produce, sourced locally. What could be better. Ashley was just so affable, always willing to chat and with lots of truly interesting conversation. I feel sure we’ll return. This is a 5 star property in my mind. You should not hesitate. Oh, and great value too.

from the minute you walk through the door you are made to feel so welcome and special. The property is beautiful and maintained to the highest standards. The whole property including the gardens are immaculate and there are so many little touches that make your stay so nice, from the bath robes to sherry in your room. The shower didn't have a great deal of pressure. This only stands out due to everything else being of an extremely high standard.
Perfect guest house My partner and I have just returned from a fantastic two night break at 17 Burgate. What can I say? It's lovely, impeccably clean, relaxing, high class yet not pretentious and the garden is beautiful. Car parking is ample, secure and useful for a small, quaint town. The breakfast is first class and plentiful featuring either home grown or artisan produce. Hosts Ashley and Alan can't do enough to make sure you enjoy your stay. Extremely attentive and friendly. It really was a pleasure to meet and spend some time with them. As and when we return to Pickering, we wouldn't stay anywhere else. Thank you again, Bex and the shy bloke (James) X

17 Burgate is ideally positioned in Pickering with on-site parking. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was great. Nice garden too.

17 Burgate is a beautifully restored house in North Yorkshire’s delightful Pickering. Alan and Ashley make you feel so at home from the word go. I would heartily recommend this gem to anyone who loves style, elegance and comfort.

All the thoughtful touches. Good size quality towels & excellent toiletries. Comfy bed, quiet location, good size room. Brilliant breakfasts (Weight Watchers bill in the post! 🤣

Offer of tea and cakes as a welcome though we didn't take it up. Very friendly staff treating guests in a caring way. Clean well decorated public rooms. Bedroom was immaculate with a pleasant view, lovely, well kept garden. Breakfast served at a particular time and was very well cooked and presented ... and tasted good too!

Having to leave so quickly!
I had changed our travel arrangements several times and nothing was too much trouble for the owners Ashley and Alan. We had a warm welcome and every attention to detail was made to give us a positive experience. The accommodation is very comfortable and clean with extra little touches that add up to a perfect stay.
