There was nothing I didn't like.

The breakfast was very good - a good variety and ample portions.We didn't know the area but the location was good for us and easy to reach the places we wanted to go to. Excellent taxi service.

Bed was a little on the hard side for our liking.

We received a warm welcome and were offered a cup of tea and cake on arrival - carrot cake was fantastic. Room nice and there were lots biscuits with the kettle/tea bags. Room clean. Breakfast exceptional, best we've had in a long time. Highly recommended.

Not much space to lay a large suitcase down in the room to access the case. Bathroom decor was a bit tired but room and en-suite was clean.

Landlady very friendly and welcoming. Bed was firm and whilst that may not be to everyone's liking it was mine and I slept like a log in the bed. Breakfast provided a choice of cereal, fruit juices, fruit, Full English. Opted for full English Breakfast and can't fault it. It was all cooked fresh and served hot and well presented with plenty of coffee to wash it down. Landlady has also provided an area with microwave, seating, cutlery and plates etc so you can bring a takeaway back in the evening and have somewhere to eat it with proper cutlery on a plate. Great idea!!

A nice warm welcome. The landlady let me leave my suitcase on the premises several hours before check in while I went into town. Very good value for money in a clean, comfortable cozy room. Amazing breakfast to set me up for the day. I will definitely return.

Not a problem during my visit, but parking may be limited during busy times.

I was greeted with a very warm welcome and an efficient introduction to my room and facilities. The room was bigger than anticipated for the price and was supplied with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was amazing with so much choice, including full English. The guest house is on a busy road but I did not hear the traffic due to the thick curtains.

No parking on site. Had to drive around and find somewhere to park on a side road. WiFi was a little slow.

Only one small issue, as a light sleeper - the ground floor front room wasn't the quietest. Not as much as I'd feared from the traffic (despite being "on the road", the double glazing did a great job of keeping out the light traffic noise) , but mostly because of people chatting and laughing fairly loudly in the reception area - which is literally outside the door - past 11 at night or at 7 in the morning.

Very friendly and helpful service by the gracious AJ - really loved the tea and homemade carrot cake on arrival (delicious!). Spacious room, big and comfy bed. Good cooked breakfast. Location is not bad, 15/20 minutes walk to the restaurant area and the city centre.

The B+B was a little too far for my son and I to walk to the city centre (he is only 5).

Alcantara guest house is a wonderful B+B and provides excellent value for money. My son and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast, comfortable accommodation and excellent service. We would stay again when in Southampton.

The shower water was hot but the pressure was weak. TV was a bit hit and miss with poor signal on a few channels - not such a big thing but after a busy day it’s nice to relax in front of the TV.

Clean room and bathroom. Comfortable bed. Good sized room for the 2 of us. Good breakfast. Within walking distance of West Quay - about 0.7 mile away. A little further to some of the other places we wanted to go, but that wasn’t an issue for us. On-site parking was a plus. The house is on a busy main road but we didn’t really notice the traffic as the double glazing was fairly good.

AJ is one of the nicest hosts I have ever encountered, she is wonderful and bent over backwards to help me. Her breakfast is truly oustanding!!!

I am very sorry but I can honestly say I liked the Guest House and if there faults you have to look for them. Probably the one thing which can put people off is the volume of traffic, but this is compensated by the very warm welcome one receives

A lovely breakfast it set us up for the day. The room was very comfortable and the shower had every thing you needed so in future we will not panic if we forgot anything in the way of shower gel etc. As for the bed it was just like everything else perfect for a good nights sleep.
