Everything was fine enjoyed our night there and breakfast in the morning.

At night the path leading from Roland the road is to dark.

The tone was set by the entrance gates and pillars which had plainly not been decorated in a long while. The front door was kicked and chipped and in dire need of a coat of paint with dirty brass handles and finger plates. It was so uninviting that we nearly walked away and found somewhere else to stay. The whole hotel had a run-down feel to it, carpets stained and rucked (looked as though they had been soaked at some point), paintwork very tired. The furniture was slightly dirty and worn. The bathroom was somewhat inadequate with an over bath shower in a narrow and difficult to access bath. The shower controls were miles away from the shower head. All the fittings creaked ominously as though they might leave their positions without warning.

Staff were efficient, friendly without overdoing it! Room was spacious and had once been well decorated. The room was spotless from a housekeeping point of view and the bed was comfortable. Everything worked properly. Breakfast (our only meal) was delicious, speedily attended to and generous. Grounds were spacious and well tended.

Evening meal service was very slow and we felt forgotten despite asking staff. Many people came after us and were served a meal before us. We had two hungry and tired children so we weren't happy waiting over an hour for food. If we come back we won't use the restaurant again.

Great location and grounds. We always play chess on the giant chessboard with the children, and we make use of the pool for a fee. Breakfast is good. Last time we stayed we had a very large bathroom so were a bit disappointed that the bathrooms are not all the same, but the bedroom was spacious and comfortable for 2 adults and 2 children.

Clean and tidy. Parking easy.

Spar charge of £20:00 per person, bit of a shock when you’re not told when booking at a spar break hotel (£197:00)all we wanted was to use was the swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna for three hours, my local spar hotel would have been a better deal, not impressed.😕🙁

Very good range, quality and execution of food ithe main restaurant, where we dined one night. All-day snacks at the bar were also very good. Breakfast fine. Room and bathroom were large and clean. Very comfy bed. Friendly and efficient staff

Some parts in need of some tlc. The spa area is separate building and not included in price. Room was hot but of open the window had loud music playing from function room to early hours.

Nice grounds and room was nice. Bed was comfy. Food was yum.

Large payment to use pool when booked through booking.com not direct. No pavement between hotel and health club. Quite expensive overall.

Let down by waiting staff. Had service charge removed and a free desert.

On our first visit in 2017 our room had the gym spa facilities included, we had to pay an extra £40 on top of our room price this time round which we weren't really happy with

Food in the restaurant and the bar could be a little more varied Communications initially were not good, but after I complained about it in improved enormously.

animal friendly , very accommodating and helpful with our new granddaughter and their parents. Very helpful staff Nice room, large and comfortable bed, good bathroom facilities.

Room 10 was to close to the boiler room Making it very noisy during operation.

The window in the room was a bit broken, wouldn't close fully. Otherwise nothing else wrong.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, good size room with comfortable bed and powerful shower. Free gym access was nice too. Good breakfast.

Had problem with aircon/heating which couldn’t be resolved during our stay Breakfast was mainly buffet style and cooked food was old and warm. With limited numbers would be better and less wasteful to cook to order. Also breakfast staff didn’t pay enough attention to other foods etc running out and needing refills
