Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was a little cold, as the heater didn’t really do much. The bed in one room was antique so was a bit creeky. But this did not take away from how good our stay was!
A wonderful place to stay. Beautiful building and surroundings, amazing staff, and great facilities. Very enjoyable stay. Booking.com didn’t correctly relay that we had requested a twin single bed room, so the hotel kindly accommodated by giving us another room. I would definitely recommend this lovely hotel

United KingdomUnfortunately was not impressed with the price of drinks in the bar, two drinks cost £18, my wife had a gin with a splash of lemonade, cost £12, £9 for single gin and £3 for a miniscule amount of lemonade.
Only stayed one night so bed only and no breakfast. Room was very nice and comfortable, bathroom lovely.

United KingdomThe pool was beautiful, though our room was right next to it so from 8am we were disturbed by an obnoxious family thinking it was perfectly acceptable to allow their children to scream for an hour and a half instead of play respectfully. Not the hotel's fault but if you want a lay in don't reside by the pool, we were told on arrival it was the quietest room, clearly they just meant at night. The windows weren't openable in our bedroom and no thermostat so we spent the entire night overheating and struggling to sleep, there's a fan hidden in the cupboard... If you want to circulate warm air and can sleep with the noise. I understand its nice for some when hotels are dog friendly... But my allergies weren't expecting to contend with 2 or 3 of them in the breakfast room when trying to eat. Normally food areas are divided, which was an uncomfortable surprise. I'll bring antihistamines next time or eat elsewhere. Cooked breakfast was okay but one really small egg, giant tomatoes and tough skin on the sausages.... They could work on the ratios. Bit of a mosquito problem in the area... Killed 7 before we were able to settle into the room but that's the location not hotel's fault.
Building and location beautiful. Pool area also beautiful and a pleasure to dip in when other guests children had gone. Staff were friendly and polite. Room was clean. Parking is close to the hotel. It's picturesque.

United KingdomSometimes it could be a little uncomfortably quiet in the bar area Odd cobweb here and there though it is an old house! Outdoor heated pool not as heated as expected though got used to it once swam around
We arrived and loved the grounds of the property. Although close to a busy road felt like we had our own little estate Quiet and comfortable. Dinner was exceptional, it is on the pricey side though you can tell with use top range quality of product. We look forward to coming again for more than 1 night and walk around the estate Short drive to Lacock

Breakfast was excellent and our room in the coach house was lovely - so much nicer than a corporate branded chain hotel. Enjoyed sitting in lounge for late night drinks and nothing was toomuch trouble for staff including allowing me to stay a little longer to take a business Teams call.

United KingdomMy only complaint was the bathroom door needed a little attention and required forceful manipulation to shut properly. This was a slight issue as the bathroom light and extractor fan stay on for sometime.
The house was stunning, the grounds were beautiful and well kept. The property had a peaceful atmosphere; it felt private, relaxed and personal. The house was clean, tastefully furnished and decorated. The room was clean, easily accessible and comfortable. The marble bathroom was a luxurious treat and my stay was finished off perfectly with a full English breakfast.

United KingdomYou can’t fault the property or venue, and the staff were great. Like with anything, there are always ways to improve, if there was one note to management, I think the restaurant (which does an excellent cooked breakfast) is the area that could move the dial from good to great - dinner was a little disappointing, the menu offered less choice than what’s suggested online, the food quality was ‘OK’ and the price point was high (fish & chips for £32.50…)
It’s a beautiful period house, where a lot of time, effort and money has gone into making it now a lovely country-house style hotel. The grounds and garden are very well kept, the pool area is very nice and the whole property is maintained to a good standard. We stayed in the ‘yew’ room which was a traditional classic room on the first floor in the main/original house.

RomaniaState of the rooms was not ideal. In one of the rooms the toilet ring was dirty, which is always horrible to find!! Carpet was stained in both rooms and there was mold around the bath tub in places, extractor fan was not working in one of the rooms. The bed was very uncomfortable (so soft that I could not sleep for half of the night) and the extra bed (which was basically the extended sofa bed) had an extremely uncomfortable mattress too. There were no slippers in either of the rooms and no soap (there was a box, but it was empty...). Breakfast closes relatively early (at 10), which is an added stress when one is on holiday.
Lovely property with beautiful park and pool, nice interior design. Very close to Lacock village, which is a must see. The staff was polite and nice enough to help us with breakfast past 10. Nice coffee and biscuits in the rooms, the beds were absolutely huge and pillows were great. Cocktails at the bar were great too!
