Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomReception staff could do to be a little better at greeting guests. The smell of paint throughout the building. Dirty stairs that needed vacuuming. The room we had needs a deep clean, the dust on the pelmets above the curtains was unacceptable.
Breakfast and breakfast room staff were excellent.

ItalyAlthough we were only there to sleep in the hotel, unfortunately I have to say that the structure is dirty. The tablecloths delivered for the shower were dirty (there were yellow stains and sometimes red stains, like blood). The towels were changed every day but were promptly stained. We asked for blankets because it was very cold and even the blankets were stained yellow and brown which made you not want to cover yourself up. In the morning for breakfast, both in the breakfast room and in the hall you were overwhelmed by an absurd stench coming from the kitchen, and you promptly stinked your hair and clothes. In fact, we had gotten into the habit of going down with clothes already worn to avoid stinking up the clean ones. The cleaning of the rooms was not done every day, and the bins were not even emptied. In short, for the price we paid for just three people, we expected a little more. The area is good but I don't know if I would choose to return to this hotel again.
The property is located just a 3/5 minute walk from Paddington Station. We didn't have any problems getting around by public transport as everything was very close. You can easily reach Hyde Park, Notting Hill and much more on foot. The staff was very welcoming and always met all our requests. As for breakfast you could choose between continental and English.

FinlandThe one-person room I was staying in was in the basement - which itself wasn't that bad. But, since the location is very near Paddington station, one of the metro lines went probably nearly right under the hotel and the noise and rattle was loud enough that I had to turn up the volume on the TV to make any sense what they're saying. You can guess that the last metro goes way after my bedtime... I'm not usually a super light sleeper so someone who wakes up easily should probably reconsider this hotel. The staff at the front desk were a bit "tired" or something. Not too many courtesy words or the basic customer service vibe that you'd expect - but not necessarily bad either, just kind of lacking. The elderly gentleman who was there on a few nights was kind and a bit more lively than the rest of them.
I was expecting a basic continental breakfast aka. toast and jam and coffee/tea, but I was positively surprised they served full English breakfast as a regular option. Before in a similar hotel you had to pay extra for that. And their continental seemed to include not only toast but a croissant and maybe a yogurt? Juice and cereal were available on a side table. The bathroom in the room was surprisingly spacious and nice.

SlovakiaFor somebody it can be a problem that every 5 minutes underground passes under the hotel what causes noise and feeling like small earthquake. If you do not have problem with sleeping, it is not such a problem. Breakfast was simple and not much to select. English breakfast or fruits. No elevator.
Destination was very good, not far away from city center, close to underground station. Personal was kind. For short stay and not too much comfort requested it is good choice.

EstoniaIt was kind of strange that we had to leave the room key to reception when leaving the hotel. The room was overall clean but pretty dusty - could be better cleaned.
The location of the hotel was pretty good - underground nearby, also some souvenir shops and places to eat. They offer English breakfast and light continental breakfast and some cereal which were good. The staff was pretty kind and helpful.

AustraliaAt the price point for this hotel including full English breakfast there is nothing to complain about.
Very central location, cute and cosy and excellent value for money. The gentle rumble of the subway was an interesting distraction, never intrusive but a gentle reminder that you are in a large city. Easy access to London sights. Full English breakfast included and able to cater for gluten free.

United KingdomToo close to train track (or maybe just above a train track tunnel), so you hear the trains going past as late as 1am and as early as 6am. May be different in different rooms, and not sure the hotel can do anything about it (maybe future sound proofing?) - but if you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you - whereas if you’re a deep sleeper, then would recommend.
Good location; clean; good facilities

HungaryThe tube was a bit noisy, in the room I had last time, but that's not their fault, so all in all I liked the room very much.
I always stay here, when I'm in London, I was here several times. I got different kinda rooms, but all was fair for the price in this area. The stuffs always kind and helpful, and there's a rich breakfast.
