Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI can imagine parking would be an issue in the peak months. We took the train so had no problems. Breakfast was a little unusual but actually suited our tastes, apart from the coffee which was so bitter I couldn't drink it. Lesson learnt, the tea the following day was fine.
Location wasn't bad. Very close to the i360 and what's left of the west pier. Very nice welcome and staff were helpful. Room was huge.

Lovely old building. Staff member who met us was really friendly and helpful. Room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The wardrobe even had extra blankets, hot water bottles, iron and ironing board, hairdryer and a large fan if we needed them. Lovely old fireplace was a feature of the room. Not much of a view from our window but very quiet and slept very well. Plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room. Booking in time from 2pm was helpful and checking out time up to 11am gave us plenty of time and not feel hurried. Lots of choice for a continental breakfast - we opted for fruit, toast, meats, cheese, croissants. Set us up for our second day of exploring and shopping. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend Brighton House Guest House for a reasonably priced hotel near the seafront in the heart of Brighton.

United KingdomOh those stairs!!! As stated before we were at the top of the building and the stairs go on forever especially after a long run. There was quite a bit of noise outside at night with people shouting and idiot drivers speeding along the beachfront. As the building and windows were old it was hard to keep the noise out but that’s just a minor downside of being in a central location.
Very handy for accessing the town. We were there for the Brighton Marathon and it was so easy to nip back and forth to the seafront and the finish line. Our room was at the top of the building with a side seaview and we could hear the sea at night (though it was pretty stormy and so was loud!) Breakfast was fantastic for a continental buffet. Lovely fresh baked croissants, fruit cake, cheese, homemade yoghurt with a good fresh fruit salad and lots of other goodies.

United KingdomNo complaints from us!
We had a lovely welcome and there were cakes and croissants in plentiful supply by the stairs all weekend. Our room was clean and comfortable; the breakfasts rich in variety and spread; the location was perfect - right by the sea and close to city centre attractions - and all in all we had a fantastic, value-for-money stay.

United KingdomWe had a lovely stay for the Easter weekend and the hotel exceeded our expectations. We had a King Size double room at the top which was worth the climb for a view over Regency Square and a side sea view. We loved the quality of the feathered bedding also, a nice touch. The building had a lot of character and the dining room and continental breakfast was lovely. We'll be back.

United KingdomThe room was at the very top floor, 71 stairs to climb, which wouldn't be suitable for an unfit person. The mattress on the bed needed replacement as it was far too soft and bouncy. The shower head was broken in our room.
The staff was excellent! Helpful and personable. The location of the property was fantastic, a few steps away from the beach and right at the heart of the city centre. Breakfast selection was also very good!
