The water pressure in the shower was terrible, after a long journey I was looking forward to a nice relaxing shower, however it wasn't meant to be. Toilet seat was broken, very wobbly and the flush on the toilet needs replacing. In the bedroom one of the lamps weren't working, presumably the bulb had broken and the traffic from the main road is an issue if you want to open a window ,(night sweats). I would recommend having a fan in the room for people who prefer cooler rooms.

Obviously now I have been there, the building was a few years old, it will require refurbishment soon, I especially had difficulties with entering and locking my room 105 door, it was a nuisance. In my room also, unfortunately it had and Exit chimney from the kitchen area extracting equipment in front of my large window, this was not really acceptable today, I thought.

With respect specifically to the breakfast room, it was organised well and functional with a good selection of various offers and the coffee was very good I thought oh yes and I enjoyed the haggis for brekky too.

Extremely helpful staff for check in with my elderly father and adaptability of his room, allowing us to take a chair with arms into his room to help him get up and onto his walker etc. Also gave great advice to my husband on how best and cheapest to get into Edinburgh in the evening for a quick visit to the festival ( only there that night en route to a holiday). Food good value and enjoyable. We could see it was near/on an industrial estate but it was well screened and quiet. Nothing too much trouble. Thank you. We would stay again in the future.

A couple of the staff seemed to have strange views on customer service with regards to where to sit when dining in the restaurant. We wanted to take a drink (bought at their bar) with us into the restaurant to have with our meal. We weren't allowed to and had to have our meals in the bar (even though other people dining in the restaurant had drinks from the bar). The bar and restaurant are basically the same room with the same tables. Another one got a bit miffed because we had the audacity to sit at a table in a basically empty restaurant without checking with her that it was okay for us to eat and pay for our meals. This isn't fine-dining guys and a bit of staff training would not go amiss. I

This is a comfortable hotel with good, comfortable facilities. A good breakfast is provided. The other (not included) meals in the restaurant were okay - reasonable pub-grub at best. Staff were welcoming and friendly. This hotel caters for tourist coaches and although it makes it busy, it doesn't detract from them providing a good service for other guests.
