Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere could have been more storage for clothes - it was very limited
The property was very clean and comfortable and the food was exceptional - they catered for a vegan diet without any issues and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was faultless and evening meal was exceptional

United KingdomWe had a slight issue with the fact that the walls are quite thin so you can hear neighbour toilet flushes, TV (when at high volume) & arguments between couples (awkwardly) I'm not sure there's a resolution to this but something to be aware of, it was only on our first night we had noisy neighbors but the front desk were super apologetic and would of resolved it (if we had gone to them during the night!!) It was a very minor issue and could happen anywhere but this was an amazing place!
Loved the location, the view to the cathedral was amazing!!! Having after hours access to the cathedral site is also insanely cool. There's a 24/7 reception and everyone was super friendly at breakfast and happy to help!!! The breakfast was spectacular and it was super easy to get around Canterbury on foot and see all the sites. There's also options to go for services in the cathedral with a timing schedule provided and there were discounts for local restaurants (highly recommend Socialite!!) Id be recommending this to family and friends who want to visit Canterbury !

United States of AmericaNothing really
I had an excellent vegan breakfast. Being able to walk around the cathedral was very special and the visit of the cathedral was free because I was staying at the lodge. I was staying in an older part of the hotel but I could see the cathedral from my window. Very special place

United KingdomI understand that the buildings are old, but it would be great if there were a luggage lift at least.
Breakfast was fine - fruit salad option was sparse : 2 grapes, melon and possibly a piece of pineapple, Room was comfortable , hot for a middle aged woman, but better than being cold.

A magical place: being able to wander the Close and cloisters by night with no other visitors is such a privilege

United KingdomShower head needs fixing - we had to hold it up. Some feather pillows as an option would be nice for those who don't like hollow fibre.
The customer service was superb. The staff on the front desk could not have been more helpful. The breakfast was excellent - especially the cooked options. Loved the special offers at various restaurants in Canterbury plus the free entry to the Cathedral.

United States of AmericaHonestly everything was amazing, just one tiny issue was that the hairdryer was like built into the wall and the outlet fuse must have been blown so we had to move furniture to maneuver the hairdryer to another close outlet so I could blow dry my hair lol. Also it was a tad hot in the room and couldn’t get it to be cooler quickly until the evening. All things that would never keep us from coming back :)
This place was amazing - amazing view, great price for what we received, delicious breakfast that was included, the gardens and lounge area were all so nice and the staff was top notch. The town is so cool, historic and lots to see. Definitely would stay again and longer.

Perfect location, on site parking, very friendly staff, very clean rooms, comfy bathroom (nice hot water) and a big comfy bed. Good curtains (it is dark) and no noise. Great breakfast (choice, taste). Very nice that the tickets for visiting the Cathedral are included.

United KingdomThere was nothing to fault.
The location is unbelievable. Waking in the morning to see the towers of the Cathedral is wonderful and it's just as lovely at night when it's all lit up. Our room was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay. The breakfasts and evening meals cannot be faulted and the staff were without exception polite, friendly and helpful.

I have absolutely fallen in love with this place! The lodge's proximity to the cathedral, parking, town first off is incredible, everything is in walking distance. The room was a good size, had a lush window nook with a view of the central garden. It had everything we needed/might need and was clean and warm. The lodge has a lovely restaurant area and the breakfast was fab - plenty of options and my allergies were easily catered for. There's a private garden with an amazing cathedral view, a lounge area and a water station. Next up, staff. Couldn't be more friendly and helpful. As well as the normal service, I happened to need ice for a swollen ankle, got that in minutes. My partner proposed, they were congratulatory and had a staff member help and take photos for us. Super helpful. You can get discounts at local restaurants and the cathedral shop and free access to the cathedral too. We will 100% be back again!
