Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomExtremely dirt glass windows around the bar area with lots of finger print in there. Extremely dirt Lift area with mirrors, doors and floor horrible dirt. The front stairs of the Hotel was extremely dirt. The problem in this Hotel seems to be that The Management doesn't want to invest in proper cleaning inside the rooms and the outside areas. It's a shame because The Hotel is beautiful with a wonderful cross the road sea view...
Good staff always ready to help and with a smile. Very good breakfast and very good dinner served on time daily. Breakfast and dinner buffet style. I requested a bath on my room and I had the best Bath possible and imaginable. Was wonderful and I am very grateful for it!!! Very good location to the Town and beautiful view of the sea across the road.

United KingdomIt was convenient for us to use the hotel as we were seeing a show. The views of Eastbourne seafront were glorious. We were lucky with the weather. However upon arrival the female member of staff was not very welcoming at all. We were checked in fine. But she didn't smile or engage in any conversation to make us feel welcomed. We went to our room along the way the hotel corridors we messy. Windowsills filthy. In desperate need of a wipe. The room was huge and the ceilings were high. We had a balcony which was unexpected and great. But the cleanliness was very questionable. There was a clump of blonde hair matted on the floor. The window were so uncleaned that I could not see the views properly. The window frame was in need of a rub down and re paint where they were so chipped. It made the room look dated and dirty. Our bed was incredibly hard. You could feel the springs were well worn and not in the right places any more. We didn't sleep well at all due to the uncomfortable state of the bed. The sheets were clean and pillows comfy. But there were no spare pillows which we needed. Our other issue sleeping was the green light above the toilet / bathroom door. It was so bright all night. That coupled with the hard bed made sleeping impossible. The breakfast was nothing special. Bacon was green in colour. And the coffee was not great.

United KingdomStaff in Bar was noticeably better trained than Staff in Restaurant. Food was below average for a Hotel Restaurant. Will not be staying again, although the building itself was of interest, the rest did not match up.
Food and drink facilities not available until 1830 and 1800. No buffet service food ordered off of paper sheet with choices of starter, mains and two desserts. When wine tried to be ordered we were informed we had to go to the Bar at the other end of the Hotel and bring it ourselves back to our Restaurant table. Food adequate but not great. Would have been helpful when we checked in at 1645 to have been informed of the above. We had drinks in the Cumberland Hotel next door and the Staff were noticeably more welcoming and informed.

United KingdomMy first room was right above the kitchen which is extremely loud when the extractor fans come on, which woke me up early hours but staff quickly moved me rooms with no additional charge or fuss. I do feel the cleanliness could’ve been a bit better as there were dirt stains on my face towel which in nature of course I did not use but my own and the ones that got me the most is there is no free parking which gets charged at £8 per night and to top it off Wi-Fi is also charged at £7 per night so if you’re looking to book a single room only, you’ll be looking at close to £100 to cover such costs which I do feel isn’t exactly market beating prices. If parking and Wi-Fi came included in the price and of course the cleanliness Improved I would definitely stay again and explore more of what the hotel offers
Great location on the seafront, looks a lot better on the inside decor and staff were accommodating to my needs

United KingdomOne was the 4pm check in and the 10am check out (most places are 11 or 12, 10 seems v early especially as breakfast goes til then, and it feels like a huge rush). When I stay here I like to relax in the lovely library room or the comfortable sofa area near the lobby. Both were closed off so there was no public area to just relax this morning. Up early and straight out!
Breakfast was v good.

United KingdomSome Staff could do with re-training. On morning of leaving hotel, at Breakfast, lady clearing tables seemed in a rush, getting rid of my finished with plates & silverware while my wife was still eating. I thought that was rude and unnecessary. She should of waited till we had both left before clearing away. DON'T DO IT AGAIN!!!
