The only thing we felt lacking was a shelf in the bathroom to put toiletries on - we had to leave them on the floor

Apart from not having a choice plain yogurt at breakfast and the room being too small to have two bedside tables there is nothing not to like about this hotel, if you want a basic, reasonably priced hotel near to various attractions with food available on site this is a good choice.

Set in the countryside with plenty of free parking and a pub and restaurant. The room we stayed in was a small double with a small outside balcony. The room was clean and bright and the shower room looked like it had been refurbished. There was plenty of hot water. Breakfast was cooked to order and there was also a selection of cereals, yogurt and fruit juice. The pub served evening meals, it wasn’t a large menu and was mostly things with chips but the chips appeared to be homemade and the food was well cooked and plentiful. There was a good selection of desserts. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

We didn't like having to come home!

This is a family run hotel and pub. The rooms are warm and comfortable. We loved the balcony outside our room The food at breakfast and in the evening was exceptional and the service was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble at any point with our stay and we are grateful for all the small touches.

Plumbing was a little challenging. Location was excellent for access to Fountains Abbey but the dearth of shops or garages without having to go into Harrogate was also challenging.

Room was very good if a little small. Staff were excellent and helped when I needed a battery for my blood glucose meter. Food was very good.

Chequers Inn was totally fabulous! The location was really convenient and handy having a pub that served food available on the doorstep! The hosts were all fabulous; so friendly and made us feel very welcome. We stayed in the King suite which is beautiful! Breakfast is fabulous! Highly recommended.

No where to hang clothes in bathroom or to rest toilet bags. Shower could been made safer with shower mat and shelf or basket for toiletries.

Only improvements I would suggest are for a bigger TV, black out blinds at windows as light on verander left on at night. Small fridge.

Lovely warm comfortable room. Great location in between Ripon and Harrogate in beautiful surroundings. Pub on site had good quality reasonably priced food. Staff were welcoming and hard working.

Really clean and friendly, will happily stay again. Food was good. The area was also remarkably quiet despite being beside a road so I slept like a log. Overall great value, comfortable, clean and friendly.

The shower, was only warm then after a few minutes it was absolutely freezing, as I was covered in shower gel the only thing I could do was to stand under a cold shower to rinse off. Just before I was about to get out it started to get hot? I think the system needs updating.

On the downside, there was no heating in the bathroom. There were no charging points beside the bed. So you could not use tablet or phone near you in bed. The TV was very small and not placed ideally to watch while in bed. It also had a fault on it.

The carvery was fabulous. Meat was tender and the service amazing. The room was spotless. The tea/coffee facilities spot on. Plenty of car parking too Very nice bathroom with complimentary shower and soaps There was a lovely little space outside of the room , where you could take your morning cuppa when the weather improves

Sadly, this modern trend to have no heater in the bathroom leads to a cold bathroom on one of the coldest nights in the year

Everything was wonderful. We had a lovely, very comfortable and warm bedroom. The staff were do friendly and helpful and couldn’t wait to f do enough for us. We had our evening meal as well as breakfast. Both meals were delicious and we made sure that we complimented the chef. Overall, we thought it was a wonderful visit and we look forward to having an opportunity to visit them again in the future.
