Location, room, breakfast was lovely, very accommodating, went above and beyond, I sent a parcel for them to decorate the room as it was mine and my partners anniversary and I planned of proposing and they were more than happy to help. Would definitely stay again!

the room was directly in front of the sea, so we could watch all the big container ships go in and out of the Channel wonderful well kept gardens, room was fabulously clean, all staff were great.

Not a dislike, there were no heaters in the room so we couldn't put them on when required.

Staff were nice and friendly. Rooms and hotel in general were clean. Location is perfectly close to the beach and town centre.

Everything was perfect. Lovely room, wonderful breakfast and a great location. The cafe menu was a bonus as the pubs and restaurants get very busy during school holidays and when there are performances at the theatre.

This lovely hotel is in a great location overlooking the sea at the older end of shanklin village. It’s really well kept with everything I needed in the spotless room. It’s an easy walk into Shanklin, where there’s a nice Italian restaurant and a few good pubs. Breakfast was good and staff friendly and helpful. I’ve stayed here before and hope to stay here again before too long.

The only tiny thing that was a bit annoying was the WiFi. You had to sign in every time your phone locked

Breakfast was amazing, the room was cosy but I wouldn’t call it small. It was very clean and comfortable and I loved the little touches of bottled water, hot chocolate and biscuits. The small bar was also really cute and well stocked. Great location too with easy walks to the beach.

Lots of stairs to climb! and our room was very small but then we had chosen a ‘cosy’ room.

We would have liked to be able to open the window more as it was warm. The TV had an issue but that didn’t bother us, as were used the wi-fi.

The hotel was very clean, and was quiet at night. There was a bar available which was nice. The breakfast was good and the ingredients tasty.

As far as the hotel and staff were concerned, they were excellent, there was nothing we didn't like. We have already booked again for next year.

The breakfast choice was excellent and the hot food was cooked perfectly, not overcooked or dried out as at some hotel establishments. The room was spacious and clean with good ventilation in what was the hottest week of the year. The range of restaurants were only a short five minute walk away for the evenings if you didn't want to eat in, but it is necessary to book in advance.

Staying at the Clifton was the highlight of our whole trip to the Isle of Wight. I only wish we could have stayed more than one night! The garden was lovely, our room was spotlessly clean, breakfast was great, staff were wonderful, and everything was so charming.

Nothing we disliked.

Location and surroundings are excellent - easy walk to village and beach (with options for test of knees and stamina if you wish!) Peace and quiet with very comfortable beds and lounge areas. Garden is excellently designed and maintained. We had a balcony room and the view on a sunny morning was spectacular. The staff are all friendly and helpful without being suffocating. The hotel is not cheap, but if you value having a peaceful and pleasant retreat with lovely views this is it!
