Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomIt is quite pricey but for special occasion it was worth it.
There was a good choice of cooked and continental options for breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The view from our bedroom was beautiful overlooking the lake and gardens.

United KingdomThe music they play in the dining / breakfast room is the same over and over again, which I think isn’t suited for the place. It’s actually really annoying and doesn’t make you feel like taking your time and relax at all

United KingdomWasn’t as clean as it should have been, was someone else’s deodorant on the chair and some chocolate on the table that someone had started to eat and been left. Also the hot and cold tap in the Bath were slow and kept going off took well over 30 mins to fill up the bath, had to have the tap a certain angle for water to come through quicker
Friendly staff, location, room was nice and comfortable

United KingdomSome aspects of the hotel decor (wallpaper, carpets, upholstery etc) are starting to show signs of wear and tear, particularly in the room we stayed in. Some of the food at breakfast was not hot.
The ambience of the hotel is exceptional. The staff were very good. Dinner was excellent.

United KingdomGranted the room was a feature room the decor was in keeping with this theme, however the carpet in the room was very worn with multiple visible holes which felt uncomfortable to walk on. There was also multiple mould spots in the bathroom.
Beautiful location and a very calm and tranquil feel to the building. The food was absolutely great.

United KingdomMake sure you pay for parking properly as the car park is independent so it's a little annoying that you can't wrap this up with the room. The room was dusty in places, so not thoroughly clean in hard to reach areas - Having dust allergies I had to medicate within a minute of entering the room and sneezing so I could breathe through the night. Stray couple of hairs too, despite the room being visibly cleaned. TV in the room was the smallest I'd ever seen and breakfast one morning the couple in front of me were seated and then I was ignored by the main person seating people, who proceeded to walk past me a number of times before acknowledging me 5 minutes later to seat me - not fun standing in heels first thing in the morning being ignored - very rude. (Will note other staff were lovely.)
The staff on check in were incredibly helpful and friendly, it was a wonderful welcome. The hotel itself is exquisite, full of character, really special. The conference rooms are also nice, which we enjoyed for our staff training. On a sunny day I would have loved to explore the beautiful grounds too but we were unlikely with time and the weather. Very cool having a bath in the main room and the water pressure is incredible. Staff attending to our party in the evening were very helpful and the food was good.

United KingdomBreakfast could have been a bit tastier. It wasn't much better than a Travelodge. Didnt realise there were seeds and sultanas to put on fruit as they were in a separate little room with the hit food. We didn't like the fact you have to pay for parking . It would be better to include it in the price. Stayed in the hotel 10 years ago and felt some areas needed a little attention like the dining room and large chandelier in hall could do with a dust - a long pole would do it!
The unusual surroundings. Very warm rooms and very comfortable bed. Nice dinner and so peaceful.

United KingdomBar prices were pretty high. A baileys and G&T came to £18 Room had a bright green light on all night, coiuldn't be turned off, something to do with fire safety but kept us awake. Also extractor fan running constantly and noisy. Left a note for maintenance. Somehow somebody else's food got added to our bill but was sorted out by reception.
Beautiful surroundings and steeped in history. Rooms tastefully decorated. Amazing food in the Garden Restaurant. Scored a room upgrade to 'The Chamberlain' which was lovely save for a couple of issues mentioned below. EV charging on site all working and free parking as part of.our stay.
