Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIf I had to nitpick , the sign is not clear to see, so it is hard to find. Also, if you want to pop out of an evening, there is nothing walkable. However, you can bring back a takeaway, drinks , etc , Simon will leave plates and wine glasses.
Everything, could not fault anything about the place .. ideal place to chill, after a long day out it's very tranquil.. the old Victorian house has a lovely Agatha Christie charm. The breakfast is good too.

United KingdomNothing.
Very warm hospitality from hosts Simon & Jo in a fabulous old Victorian house. The house is rurally located although close to the very nice town of Wadebridge and in a good position to tour both coasts. It has very large well appointed bedrooms/bathrooms, a great guest lounge, garden seating and views. Breakfasts are delicious with a selection of different cooked options. Simon & Jo’s approach means you can totally relax here and we would definitely recommend a visit.

United KingdomWe prefer to drink out of Mugs (just what we are used to) we did mention to the hosts and they explained the cups were that size to fit under the coffee machine (which was superb coffee). No saucer to put the spoon on after stirring drinks.
Costislost House is a lovely old Victorian house with features preserved. The room was very large with two chairs to sit and have a drink and look at the lovely view out the window. The bathroom was the largest I have ever stayed in and the shower was brilliant. Breakfat had all the usual choices and was cooked to perfection.

United KingdomThe turning from the main road (if traveling from the North) leading to the entrance can be quite dangerous as it is on a sharp bend.
The Partridge room was very comfortable with a lovely view of the countryside. The on-suite was exceptional. The dining room, rest room and outside seating area was very pleasant.

United KingdomJo and Simon were great, very welcoming. Not intrusive at all, which can happen at B&B’s. It was my wife’s birthday and they went out of their way to make it special for her - thank you! Scrambled eggs & Salmon breakfast was great, as was the cooked Cornish breakfast. Great facilities, well maintained and an extremely quiet location. Was perfect for us.

United KingdomBathrobes would be a nice addition. Also we would have liked our room to have been serviced (bins emptied, bed made etc) but it wasn’t too much of a problem as only a 2 night stay.
Welcoming. High quality bed linen and towels. Very comfortable bedroom and immaculate bathroom. Very good breakfast. Peaceful location. Nearby places to eat. Homemade shortbread on refreshment tray in room a nice touch.

PolandThere was literally nothing we didn't like.
Honestly one of the best places I've ever stayed in. It is cozy, beautifully furnished, the rooms are big and comfortable, and the breakfast is excellent. Everything is spotlessly clean. Simon and Jo really did a splendid job at creating a tasteful, enjoyable place, where you can really relax and forget about daily life. And there are rabbits, foxes, and roe deers there, too. What else could one want?

We normally don’t really write a review but we just felt like doing since we really enjoyed our stay ! Everything was very clean and neat. Good shower, strong hair dryer ! There are tea bags, coffee machine and their homemade shortbread in the room. We even had fridge with milk for tea ! Their home made breakfast was amazing as well. We will recommend our parents to stay here next time when they are down in Cornwall. We def will visit again.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn't like about Costislost House. Such a quiet and peaceful location, we would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
Lovely location in beautiful countryside, quiet and peaceful, with plenty of wildlife around which was lovely to see. The room was spacious and clean with a wonderful view of the garden, a very comfortable bed too which was an added bonus! It was lovely to meet Simon & Jo. We were made to feel most welcome. Loved the extra touches, eg delicious homemade shortbread which Jo had made, in the room. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break and we will definitely revisit next time we visit Cornwall. Thank you Simon & Jo for making the trip so pleasurable. We hope to see you again some time in the future.
