Not much of a view - looked out over car park. Upon departure the lift doors closed but lift did not move. Pressed lift doors to open and used stairs to exit.

Room: Very comfortable air conditioned spacious room. Two TVs, good internet connection and plenty of storage. Large breakfast room with efficient service.

    As above

Room was fine albeit not too warm, thankfully there was a secondary oil fired heater to switch on. Generally, all my stays when the weather is poor, the rooms are never warm enough.

The view from my room (both windows) was of a roof and exit air vent. No view whatsoever: I don't think the hotel was full, so why not allocate the nicest rooms first? Or discount those with awful views? I also thought breakfast would be better - not sliced bread or machine made coffee. No coffee or tea making facilities in the room.

Welcome desk staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Restaurant staff were also very attentive. Room and bathroom were lovely inside

Could do with better De-Caf drink options both in rooms and at breakfast. Also needs better and more prominent information and instructions for the air conditioning in the room.

Good sized room. Breakfast was good, service efficient.

£11 additional for parking for the night which does not guarantee you a space. Overpriced but your paying for location I guess Check in at 3:00pm is fixed due to 12:00pm check out You can pay to check in earlier Breakfast was carnage - Not enough room and we ended up taking our to the bar area

Location - right in the heart of Durham, our room had a lounge area as well as a bedroom - very clean and tidy Everything worked in the room and had no issues at all

Our upgraded room was on 2nd floor at front of the building. There was double glazing and little noise from the street but it was very noisy due to what we later discovered was the water pump for the showers in that section which seemed to be in the attic above us. The first night people seemed to be showering or running hot water almost constantly. It improved slightly the next two nights. We spoke to the very helpful receptionist and she spoke to maintenance and that is how we found out about the water pump situation. We only had one night left at that point or I am sure they would have moved us if we had asked as hotel was quiet. They did give us a breakfast for free when we checked out as recompense. So avoid room 240! Also pillows were very soft, a firmer option would be good.

Excellent location near to the city centre. We were upgraded on arrival. Room was spacious with tea and coffee making facilities. Bed was comfortable. We had breakfast one morning which was pretty standard for a hotel of this type. If you book before midnight for next day, it is £14 compared to £18 if you just turn up in the morning. A new coffee shop has just opened within the hotel beside the ground floor entrance so that would be an alternative. There is a free water bottle refill station at reception and also an umbrella hire stand. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

The room was unbelievably hot-it was almost tropical! Somebody did try and help us and offered a fan but the noise would have been really irritiaitng.
