How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nothing at all, no complaints.
Great friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble, really lovely family atmosphere. Can't recommend them highly enough. Loads of choice for breakfast all good quality and plenty of it. Would recommend it to anyone. Thank you, to, Nick and family for a lovely week.

Everything, I've stayed in many hotels in Eastbourne but this is the best by far. We will be rebooking as soon as we can. Breakfast superb rooms extremely comfortable. This b and b is always booked up and I can see why.

Shower takes bit working out but fine Booking.com make breakfast option bit clearer. Says pay at property left me puzzled.

Free parking was available in the road outside the Hotel, which was a welcome bonus. Our host Nick, was extremely welcoming and very friendly. He explained about our room, where our breakfast would be served and also about selecting our cooked breakfast choices, the night before. We had booked an economy double room, which was very clean, had a comfortable bed, and the electric shower was great. Our room was well heated, and the complementary tea and coffee tray was very well stocked! The information pack was very comprehensive, one of the best we’ve come across in our travels. The breakfast room was lovely! It was clean, light and bright and very cheerful, and well decorated. It was a buffet style breakfast with tea and coffee and fruit juices freely available. I loved the fact that there was a variety of different sized tea pots, so you could make a pot of tea. A great variety of cereals, including porridge pots, which were very tasty. Croissants, Pain au Chocolat, and sweet wraps. Lots of bread for Toast and preserves, and this was followed by your cooked breakfast, which was freshly cooked, and bought to your table. A fantastic breakfast which set you up for the day.

Unfortunately it’s a very busy area so lots of cars which made parking more difficult but I did find a space near the seafront then moved my car before 8am the next morning.
Nick the owner was very kind and his staff were very friendly. Breakfast was very nice and I would definitely return. There was plenty of tea, coffee and milk in the room.

Our room was advertised as having a sea view which it did not, and parking in the street was very busy but we did manage to find a space a few streets away. But the stay was great so would return here again!
Nick was a very helpful and friendly host. The breakfast was excellent! And we very much enjoyed our stay - a brilliant location so near to the sea.

The room was very cold (was one of the coldest weekends of the year and had attic rooms) so i wouldn't hold that against them and would stay again
Good location and was easy to park outside (was off season) easy walk to beach and town and a close local pub with character. Friendly host, breakfast had all you needed. In all was good value for our stay.

In winter, the room can be a little chilly. It all depends on what temperature you prefer.

A little chilly but this was explained and is being fixed, and nothing an extra blanket wouldn’t fix for now.
Good location on the front, fairly easy, free street parking, comfy bed. Nice simple room and good breakfast and lovely host Nick.
