The surroundings were perfect, with thoughtful artworks that amused and made you feel comfortable and at home. Small things like moving th Belinda to block out the sun, or the honesty bar that was well stocked. The breakfast was perfect: the fresh fruit and the thick cut bacon, the variety of breads available and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection

There were a couple of tiny niggles for us. We aren’t skinny, and could each have done with a bigger bath towel. For the same reason, my husband found the pivot door on the shower a bit of a pain.

Welcoming hosts, very efficiently run, very comfortable, very clean. In the room, the tea tray had decent breakfast tea, ground coffee bags as well as instant, a pre-set up coffee/tea maker, hot chocolate, fruit and herbal and Earl grey tea, fresh milk, sparkling and still water, good shortbread biscuits and a packet of mints. Great attention to pleasing the guests. across the hotel. Plus sensible helpful laminated notices in places (not fussy ones, they’re useful explanatory notes). There’s an easy system for getting in and out of the hotel. There’s a drinks bar in the salon where guests can serve them self with a g and t or wine or water, and just record what they’ve had against their room number. The rooms are warm but you can open most of the windows to regulate the temperature or let in fresh air. The bed linen and toiletries were good quality. The breakfasts were good quality and nicely cooked. Would have preferred slightly thinner rashers of bacon ourselves, but tasted great. Just about everything seemed to be very well thought out.

The breakfast was really well done, plenty of options, top quality. Evening meals were exceptional, top quality produce cooked professionally and very well presented. Plenty of free off road parking, more than enough even when the hotel is full.

We arrived to a nice warm welcome from Steve who helped with secure storage for my bike.we we're then show to our spotlessly clean room and a brief explanation of how things all worked.The breakfast was served by Sally and was fantastic all throughout our stay.Both Sally and Steve the owners where very friendly and helpful.Looking to book this hotel the next time we visit porlock. Where to start?! Very comfortable and well-appointed spacious room and bathroom. The Hotel was spotlessly clean and tidy with lovely decor throughout and we felt very much at home in the surroundings. The food was delicious and prepared to a very high standard, sirloin steak especially recommended! The honesty bar is an excellent idea. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts. Thank you Sally and Steve for a wonderful stay.

Slight road noise but it was very warm while we were staying so we slept with windows open. Probably would not of noticed with windows closed.

Very professional attentive staff. Beautifully furnished house with lots of attention to detail. Excellent food, local produce cooked with care and served with a smile. Secure off street parking. USB Socket in bedroom a nice simple thing but often missing at other hotels.

A beautiful house in a lovely garden, our room was spotless and extremely well equipped (including TV and Wifi). Secure storage for our mountain bikes, plenty of space to park and also sit outside on the lawn after our bike rides. A wide variety of choice for breakfast including fruit, pancakes and yoghurt as well as the usual cooked choices. Evening meals were very good - tasty and beautifully cooked. The hotel is very well located for accessing the best mountain biking on Exmoor, especially the technical riding around Porlock. Highly recommended.

We liked everything about the property. The owners Steve & Sally were great. They have thought of every little detail even down to the wonderful locally made toiletries. The food was outstanding, as good ( if not better) than a 5* hotel. The whole property was maintained at a very standard.

This is easy to comment on, we liked everything. The only thing we disliked was having to leave.

This was our second visit to Exmoor Country House Hotel and we found the experience as to be of the same high standards as before. We had total confidence in the safety measures taken during the pandemic to make guests feel confident and relaxed. The food at breakfast was served to perfection with an excellent range of choices, the fresh fruit, particularly the melon and strawberries were very tasty, as were the yoghurts and cereals. The choices for the optional evening meals did not disappoint (the sea bass can be highly recommended). The meticulous detail for cleanliness was second to none. An excellent location has been the reason for our stays, as we walk sections of the South West Coastal Path. When we go back again it will be for pure relaxation. Steve and Sally, the owners are very attentive, with no hint of intrusion.

Beautiful country house in a lovely setting yet still close to facilities. Hosts were very helpful and the food was exceptional. We had two evening meals and they were cooked to perfection. The views from the room were fantastic and cleanliness was spot on and there was even fresh milk for the room every day. We will definitely return!
