How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Swimming pool was not available. Although breakfast was very good it was the same every day.
Continental breakfast was very plentiful. We were encouraged to order extra to take for lunch as well

Breakfast being served in our room. This meant we only met other guests in passing on our way in or out. The breakfast was very restricted and the biggest disappointment was the lack of marmalade.
Located near to the centre of town, the room was excellent The shower in the bathroom was good but the bath's location was a little weird.

Nothing. Everything was superb. Road very dark at night if your walking bur apart from that all good.
The Fernbank was excellent. Cleanliness 10 out of 10. Breakfast more than enough.

We know it was very hot at the time but it would have been nice if the windows opened from top to bottom for more ventilation.
It was quiet and not too far from the Main Street and Resturants

We went for a small double room, which was a little tight for two people but was fine for a few nights stay. Would probably go for a slightly bigger room in the future. Can't really fault much else to be honest!
Great location (5 mins walk to Old Village and 10 mins to seafront), free parking, excellent service and nice breakfasts. The host really made an effort to make sure our stay was pleasant. Would definitely return in the future.

Everything from check-in to leaving.. So quiet and peaceful, even upgraded our room😊 The bed was super comfy, the amenities were spot on. The breakfast was superb, staff were amazing and friendly. Ideally located & immaculately clean. We will definitely return Thank you for making our stay so good

The room was very spacious and comfortable with lovely views of the gardens and the sea in the distance

Liked everything

If I'm being very picky, I would have preferred a bit of choice on the time of breakfast but it generally worked out well given the timings of when attractions opened on the island.
I think this was the cleanest place I've ever stayed. The staff were very friendly. There was plenty of breakfast and it was all very fresh. The basket of fruit and box of biscuits on arrival was a lovely surprise. Great location for walking into town/the beach.

Breakfast, although Continental could have a bit more variety like Boiled eggs and other items, not just the same menu everyday. For stays up to a week, this becomes too repetitive.
Breakfast was good. Staff were excellent and extremely friendly and welcoming. The Guest house was very homely and welcoming. The Room was lovely and all the facilities were good. The location was excellent and quiet whilst within walking distance to the High Street and Local Amenities. Felt more like a home away from home.
