Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

For a get away in the country with no fast pace then this is your place. Alasdair & Melissa are wonderful hosts and have a lovely place. We had a lovely wing to the house and it transported us back in time. It is a beautiful place just to relax, even my 4G didn't work which was a chance to relax and read a book. The view from our bedroom was stunning. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

United KingdomAs previous reviews had stated, the decoration of the property was dated, but it was full of charm and certainly clean. We wouldn’t have changed it!
Wonderful choice of food for breakfast. Catered to all our needs. We particularly liked the fresh stewed rhubarb and yogurt. Our host was very friendly and welcoming. He happily contacted the pub to book tables for us on both evenings.

United KingdomThe character of the property is simply beautiful. The bedroom was extremely comfortable. Our bedroom was big especially as we had a large dog with us. We slept really well and the bed was huge! The breakfast was lovely with ample food and you sit in a stunning room overlooking an incredible view. We had a fantastic stay!

United KingdomThere's a bit of strange smell in the rooms.
Fantastic view to the green field and bay water. Dreamly setting in a remote village, with a friendly dog and nice cat. The owner was very patient and helpful that he booked first night dinner for us at the local pub. My kids loved the rooms and they played outside safely, with the dog, cat and seesaw. Bathroom was spacious. Extra bed was a double bed. Breakfast was outstanding in a beautiful dining room, with hot croissants and cinnamon rolls, homemade bread, honey n nuts yogurt, milk and juices, cooked rhubarb, PLUS freshly cooked customized England breakfast. I wish we have booked more nights. Will surely return if possible.

United KingdomGlenmore Country House is lovely. A big, charming, old house that's been in the owner's family since 1850. We had the double room with a lovely sea view that looks over fields to a boat-studded inlet in a serene landscape. The room has a dedicated bathroom across the corridor, but it's very private and not impinged on by any other room, and not a concern. Any plumbing issues mentioned in previous reviews have been fixed, and we encountered none. Wifi works fine. The track to the house is rutted, but not a problem if you navigate with care, and take it slow. Breakfast was excellent, and hosts Alistair and Melissa are charming. A very agreeable stay - we'd certainly return.

United KingdomFrom the beginning of our stay the toilet did not flush. We were told that there was some issues with getting water to the house. We managed to have a shower the first night but were reduced to using a bucket to flush the toilet (filled up by ourselves) and not being able to shower at all from then on. We were offered bottled water to drink and use for making coffee, which was nice. The toilet did not have a lid and the piping was seemingly held together with masking tape and there was a leak from the pipe which was being caught by a plastic container behind the toilet. It was in dire need of maintenance. The owner offered us a discount for not having a flushing toilet and being unable to shower but I feel £20 discount on our accommodation was a poor recompense for the lack of facilities and I was a little disappointed when I received it several days after checking out. But better than nothing, I suppose.
It is a very quirky and interesting old house with a stunning view. Breakfast was expansive and of good quality. Really quiet area with pretty walks around it.

United KingdomThe ‘road’ up to the house is worse than a Forestry Commission road. You need to have really good suspension on your car, as the pot holes were very deep. We’d read previous reviews and this place looked really interesting, so we were really looking forward to staying there. We were greeted by a friendly, although very very smelly dog and were shown up to the room by the Owner and told to watch how much water we were using, as they had had problems with the water supply and this meant the loo was very reluctant to flush. The room had a stale musty smell to it, which probably could have been sorted, if the windows had been opened. The ‘double’ bed consisted of two beds wired together and was uncomfortable with springs poking through. The bathroom and toilet were across the landing and although private to the room, I wasn’t keen on walking around through the night in my PJ’s. The wi-fi code didn’t work and there was no milk in the room. Fresh flowers from the garden was a really nice touch. The room, bathroom and toilet all looked very sad. We didn’t stay for breakfast, for reasons out-with the Owners control, although we were offered a continental breakfast.
Beautiful old country house which had been in the same family for several generations. The Owner was very proud of this. Beautiful view from the room.

United KingdomHaving to leave ;-) Although we were looking forward to Mull and the rest of our tour - we will have to come back again! It would have been nice to have a key to stay out later, (we were in by 9:30) especially in June when it was still light (but we did watch the sunset from our window), But I do understand the host needs to lock up and get to bed - he has to be up before the guests.
It was SO nice there, (the host Alasdair, the view, the room etc), that we cancelled the next stop on our tour (Oban) and stayed an extra night at Glenmore Lodge before taking the ferry for Mull. We love Kilmelford, but this is easily the nicest place we have ever stayed in the area. The view from our window was amazing, picture postcard. The room was lovely, very comfy bed, and you could sit in bed drinking tea in the morning and admire the view, or in the evening watching the sun set, as it was still light in June. The house is beautiful., fully original, it was a priviledge to be there. Family portraits on the walls, carvings on the original wooden banisters, it really was an original country house / manor, with such a great and peaceful and majestic atmosphere. Alasdair was kind enough to let me read in the drawing room late at night, as I settle very slowly, and it was a wonderful place, just to be there. Breakfast were Excellent. Alasdair was an exceptional host. He even went to Oban to get Kippers for Clare as she asked for them and they hadn't been asked for for years. I dont think I've ever had a better host. The Cuilfail Inn in the village is a great place to eat too, and Arduiane Gardens is a must, especially in late spring early summer.
