The TV remote was a little dated which made it a bit awkward to use. But that is a very minor thing.

Very friendly personal service, comfortable, clean hotel, really excellent food. Overall excellent service and experience. Would stay again.

It would be good to warn people on the booking that there is another hotel in the area with a very similar name! We got confused finding the right one!

Lovely warm welcome from the staff- they were great and would make me come back again. Fantastic gluten free breakfast.

We arrived having had a four hour delay on our train journey and at 7.40 when the restaurant closed for last food orders at 8pm. We dropped our bags in the room and went straight down so that we could eat before it closed. The restaurant staff consisted of two very young males, with one having to be watched by the other even if it was just to pick up glasses from an empty table. The menu was printed on landscape A4 and the print was tiny - there were far too many options and much to much to read. Having messed up out drinks order and brought a cocktail with half the ingredients (there were only 2 cocktails available) we were still fully charged for this. When the food arrived the plates were so hot I thought the skin on my face would burn off. When we finished we were given no bill - asked to pay at reception who tried to get us to pay a second time for our room despite us having paid in advance.

The breakfast staff were just brilliant, both days. The breakfast options were great and Matthew made the best scrambled eggs I have ever tasted each morning.

Restaurant closes at 8pm, no food or snacks available after this. Rooms are dated .

I was given a different room to what I’d booked but it was easily rectified without any issues. Lovely amount of tea & coffee in room adding a nice touch with biscuits. Property was extremely clean with hand sanitizer all around the property. Breakfast was good. Ordering from the table, nothing was too much trouble. Friendly staff.

The bed was a little soft but that is probably just me

The breakfast was freshly cooked, tasty, hot and plentiful. All staff were happy and friendly especially the lady at breakfast on both mornings and on checking out. I think her name was Sharon. Room was big and a bonus that we could take our dog.

As it was an old house the floorboards in our room were very noisy, creaking when walked on. The TV was against the wall facing the window so not good to watch laid in bed we had to move the glass top to turn tv to face the bed .

Lovely old house and grounds in a good location for peterlee. Very friendly welcoming staff , very helpful organise taxis for our stay. Our room had a bath and a dressing area with a lovely large mirror with lighting to do my makeup. Lovely home cooked breakfast.

We couldn't find anything to dislike.

Staff very welcoming. We brought our young dog and they made her most welcome as well. The hall is very interesting. It's very old with many original features including sloping floors in places. Our beds were really comfortable and breakfast was well cooked and plentiful. The hall/hotel is family run and it shows - the staff are happy and really helpful. We were in the area visiting family and had already had 4 nights in a cottage, we only tagged on a one night stay in the hall but next time we come up it will our first choice for our full stay. If you want a modern hotel this probably wont be for you, but if you want to stay in a old manor hall with friendly helpful staff, comfy beds and a good breakfast then I'd fully recommend it.

To many stairs, no lift available due to very old building, my mother struggled up the stairs, basically no good for people with mobility issues, also we were charged an extra £10 on arrival for a twin room even though Booking.com allowed me to book a twin room for £10 less which i thought was not right and unfair, the hotel should of taking it up with Booking.com to claim the £10 back.🙁

The staff were very friendly and could'nt do enough for us, food was very good but a bit
