The building is very dated, and is very tired in appearance and needs a refurbishment The reception is drab and dreary. We believe it is under nee management and if they upgrade and refurb it will be amazing.

The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. The grounds are beautiful 😍 the bar area lovely. The restaurant food was excellent.

Spa facilities are lovely, we really enjoyed the sauna and swimming pool. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds for a really good night's sleep. Very quiet location and beautiful grounds. The staff were friendly professional and made us feel welcome, breakfast was great for the price, and cooked to our liking. Nice selection of cereals and toast on offer, along with yoghurt and fruit, and fruit juices to choose from. Tea and coffee provided. Ideal base for exploring the local area's attractions. Great value stay.

We found it hard to locate the actual entrance to the hotel from the car parking area outside. The main door would benefit from an illuminated sign saying 'Reception'.

Room was clean and well presented and comfortable. Breakfast was also fine in a pleasant breakfast room with lots of choice. Our TV didn't work at first but staff rectified the situation very quickly.

For some reason it was £8.20 more for our stay than the original price ...don't know why this was.

We had read some poor reviews beforehand but my husband and I were quite pleased with our stay here. The room was large with a shower. Our room was a long way from reception but that wasn't really a problem. The breakfast was nice.We stayed for 2 nights. We would stay again.

Shower was difficult to get right, required very small adjustments, either red hot or cold. Breakfast was ok but fried / poached eggs been sat there a while and gone hard.

Not very mobility friendly. No lifts. Needs more thorough cleaning in rooms (lamp had so much dust on it)and particularly on stairs. The electric lighting is very dated and dodgy, ie takes time to come on and flicker!!! False smells ie air fresheners are not nice and very obvious, at least buy decent ones! The price reflected the flaws. Staff were friendly & breakfast was good.

    The grounds are lovely.

The shower temperature dial wasn’t working properly but I didn’t mention it to the staff as was usually rushing out. They would probably have done something to fix it (or to show me how to use it if there was a knack to it) had I raised it.

The staff were wonderful, really friendly and helpful with any request, often going above and beyond :) I loved the old fashioned grandeur of the main building, the wood panelled walls, grand staircase, the full English breakfast and the setting. It is set back in a stunning part of Shropshire.

It’s a beautiful old place, but it is very tired. The decor and furnishings are from the 70’s and needs a lick of paint and a refurb. Having said that, don’t let this put you off. It’s a lovely place to stay.

Beautiful building and very friendly welcome and staff couldn’t do enough for you. Food in restaurant was lovely for evening meal. The price was so reasonable.
