Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The shower didn't work properly so had to have a bath. When just wanted to have a shower and the flow of the water was shocking

I wasn’t sure if the room was clean. Bed sheet was changed but room smell little bit dusty

Some of the other guests were a bit hit and miss . But that’s not the hotels fault . Unfortunately because of the low cost of the rooms it attracts some undesirables on bad Tinder Dates.

The room was very clean, however rooms are only serviced every three days when staying longer than three nights. Additional tea, coffee, fresh towels etc are available from reception. Calling a taxi is very easy, just press a button in reception, my taxi arrived within two minutes. Good location, just ten minutes walk to the pier. Shops, bars, restaurants and buses are less than five minutes walk away. Plenty of parking, the charge is £5 per night.

There was no hand soap. It was not mentioned that you don’t clean rooms every day. Why are water drinking glasses placed in the toilet , face down? That seemed unsanitary and discouraged us to use them. The TV was not working properly.

There was no way to adjust the heat in the room and it was like an oven. Went to open the windows only to find they were already being held open by mugs! Unbearable heat sadly.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The rate for a double room was amazing and the hotel was clean.

Staff very rude behind the desk shower didn’t work properly. Double bed was to small was always a loud banging noise and could hear which sounded like a washing machine. Room lights was very full so hard to see in our room at night. I would not recommend this hotel and definitely wouldn’t come back.
The only thing that I really liked for the money was the entertainment and the location

The bars shutting time was a bit early.
Front of house staff were helpfull and friendly as was the rest of the staff. Nothing was a problem for them and was a good atmosphere sitting in the bar .

The plumbing. Unfortunately there was an issue with the toilet although it flushed well and wasn't one of the macerator ones we experienced at the hotel years ago, The pipes and cistern needed attention. Shower was hot but water flow could have been better, again issue with plumbing and age of hotel. Last couple of days was much busier and noisier, but I guess that is to be expected for it's value.
We went in February 2024, fairly chilly time. Parking was easy, location is pretty good for the price of the hotel. Hotel is gradually getting a makeover as it used to look very tired and shabby on the ground floor - much improved now. Staff were very polite, room was upgraded to a suite which we didn't expect. Both radiators worked well for the size of the room. Plenty of buffet food in the restaurant considering we went at a quiet time to start with, they still made sure we didn't go without.
