How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Third time staying at Heywood House. Great value, fantastic location (3 mins to Mathew Street). Very pleasant staff and clean, comfortable hotel.

There was no coat hooks except for one which was in the wrong place just over a shelf in an alcove.
The staff were excellent and we ordered continental breakfast to our room quite early. It was very good and excellent value.

It's minor but please replenish the toiletries with the same brand/ item when staying on multiple days.
The friendly check in, rich interiors, white company toiletries and a reception team who care about their guests.

Noisy second night, but it's a city centre hotel in a party town, not the hotels fault, but it is awake. Balcony was a waste due to very wet weather.
Friendly helpful staff.location was good . An easy walk from the train station. Alchemist breakfast good Slaughter house next door cheap but also good

Fairly basic hotel.
The location of this hotel was perfect right around the corner from the train station and a short work to Liverpool 1 and the docks. It was also close to the Cavern club and lots of eateries.

It wasn't possible to open a window. But was not an issue for us. But in summer time it could be nice to open a window.
Location excellent, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

The hotel price was good value for money- the location is fab. It was Bank Holiday Sunday so it was noisy at night as we are in the town centre, but it didn't stop us sleeping! The receptionist was very friendly, we really can't fault it for what we paid...Location really made it a great stay as so easy to get everywhere.

that a late checkout was only possible for another £20 and only from normal checkout 11:00 to 13:00.
I had an English breakfast in the slaughter bar next to the hotel and it was really good and the personal was friendly. Also the price was fair. very easy to fetch the bus outside the hotel. Hotel is situated in a perfect location and walking distance to everything even to Anfield stadium that takes 40min

The noise from the fan in the room was quite annoying. We were told that nothing could be done to stop it. Ear plugs are needed if sensible to noise when sleeping…
The hotel is well located, only a couple minutes from the city center. The room was in line with our expectations and the staff always available to provide with any information.

Great location, so close to all the main attrections in Liverpool. Room was clean and well served with toiletries/towels and coffee/teas. Also very spacious. Friendly staff at reception and very helpful with our needs. No problems with very late check-in.

Great location, close to everything. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was spotlessly clean, comfortable beds with a great shower. Very enjoyable stay and would definitely stay here again.

It was so noisy from the outside!! Felt like the whole of Liverpool was in our room! When asked on check out for feedback I gave it and was given Booking.com policy that we could ask for higher room! We didn't know it was noisy until we'd stayed there!

The room was a lot smaller than expected, as was the bed. The bed was also quite soft, which was not very comfortable.
Great location, staff were very pleasant and offered to hold our luggage on the last day to save us having to bring it around before travelling to the airport later that afternoon. The room was very clean though and the water, tea/ coffee facilities, and snacks was a lovely thought.
