Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The lighting in the room is "dim" so reading etc. was uncomfortable.
Large, comfortable room. Bathroom faced the main road but did not have adequate window blinds for privacy. However, a quick use of a spare towel solved that and made everything good.

The room and the food in the pub were all a little bit more expensive than we would usually pay. The room was a large family room that could sleep 4, we booked late and had limited choice of places to stay in the location, so chose this one. That might account for the room being a bit expensive for one night. Breakfast wasn't included. The pub food was nice but again a bit more expensive than we would have expected to pay, however, this area is closer to London than we usually stay, so that may account for prices.
Our family room was spacious, spotless, quiet, comfortable, and on the ground floor with patio doors to the garden. Tea and coffee making facilities were good too. The food in the pub in the evening was nice. We didn't have breakfast.

Car park across a busy road, uneven brick footpath leading to the main entrance.

Liked it all.
Breakfast very good and a good choice from the menu but maybe some cereal or fresh fruit. Room is beautiful and spacious and a very smart bathroom. Did not stay for dinner as visiting family

Manager was professional but abrupt and curt! He was stressed and suggested we could not have breakfast as too busy. This is despite restaurant at 950 was quiet.

The staff upon arrival were unfriendly and not at all welcoming, more like we were an inconvenience. However the staff the day when we were leaving were lovely. The room I had requested was not given to us, so we had a bathroom that had steps down which was not ideal with a two year old.
Beautiful characterful building. The bar and restaurant were lovely and the food delicious.

My only negative is that I couldn't get the (free) wifi to work in my room. Apparently they had been having problems with O2 connection fror some while, but it might also have been the room itself. If wifi matters to you, check before arrival that the problems have been sorted and that there is good reception in the lounge area in case it's poor in your bedroom.
Really nice room, very clean, and plenty of space. Superb food (I tae tin the evening as qell as breakfast). Staff couldn't have been more pleasant & helpful.

Loved everything- what a gem this place is. Beautiful 17th century building with lots of character features. We had a family room and it was amazing - big room giving my teenager personal space. The staff are amazing, couldn’t do enough for us so thank you. It is literally 5mins away from RAF Halton

Pillows were lumpy and the room was v hot when we arrived. Quickly cooled down with windows open, but turned radiators down and stayed hot for a long time. The music in the bar was odd and incongruous: loud, dancey beats.
Room was good value and very clean. Children loved their own space on a different level; but the steps in the room are quite dangerous for toddlers. Bar manager was lovely and accommodating.
