Our sash window needed replacing as the window didn’t stay open properly and the view out of our bedroom was of a wall… not great.

We were greeted extremely well. We were brought a wonderful coffee and Tea with a great piece of fruit cake. Views were fab, room comfortable with a good shower.

Staff were great - I asked for lactose free milk for my wife’s cup of tea on Saturday afternoon in the bar and this was communicated throughout the whole team so she always got a lactose free option. All without us saying that was a required but just because I asked once, absolutely amazing above and beyond service.

As we were only there two nights we found little or nothing to grouse about. We would have enjoyed more walks from the hotel but the immediate area is very limited for walkers. The only thing to comment about the cleanliness was as I lean right over the sink, cleaning my teeth, my eye was drawn to the overflow apature which did need some attention, however I’m sure most people do not assume the same position as myself, but if they do then mmm not nice.

Walking through the door and being greeted by a warm log fire was lovely, and the smell of woodsmoke pervaded the house, again lovely. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, giving the feeling that if we needed anything they would have pleasantly tried their best to help us. The manager had a good knowledge of the area and was engaging to chat to, did his job very well and I think the rest of the staff followed his example.

I would avoid booking ground floor, arriving guests and cars felt intrusive and a little noisy.

Everything was fantastic, the head barkeep is a rare treasure. Breakfast was fantastic, the whole setting was breathtaking.

I would prefer to have had black out curtains- the outside lights shone through the fabric very brightly until 11pm .

Utterly delightful building and accommodation. The staff were universally helpful and the whole experience excellent. The setting is delightful in open countryside. It has a very authentic feel.

The staff were very friendly, the food was lovely, the grounds of the hotel were beautiful, the rooms were spacious and well appointed. The hotel had a real country house feel about it. The restaurant had just closed when I arrived but they opened up again for me which I really appreciated. All in all, an excellent experience which I'd highly recommend

Nothing that I didn’t like but couple of points to consider 1. Provision of light duvet cover for warm weather plus portable fans (risk of midges attack when leaving windows open at night) 2. The lovely piano in the conservatory requires tuning

Can't really think of anything specific. It's an older building and so guests should manage their expectations on the facilities provided and how things work - this is not a new building high tech offering - but everything worked fine.

The hotel had a very comfortable feel to it. Its an old country estate house that offers many quiet and comfortable sitting areas for quiet relaxation, contemplation and/or meeting other guests. It has a nice relaxed ambiance with a strong "homely" feel. The staff were truly excellent. Our meals were very good. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel expressed a lot of Scottish character in its furnishings and presentation. The bar was small but well stocked. Most common rooms had log fires which will be lovely in the colder months.

Bedroom was like a furnace, even with both bedroom and bathroom windows open — but it was during an unusually warm spell. Shower was cramped.
