Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only surprise was that it was £15 extra to bring our dog. On booking.com, I'm sure somewhere in the small print this will be included, however we didn't see it so I'm sure others won't either. It may be clearer just to include the £15 in the total price to allow pets? I know many people don't bring pets - but this listing on booking.com was specifically a 'pets allowed' ad. Why not have two ads, one for pets and one without, and then there aren't any surprise bills to pay on arrival? Those who are bringing a pet will always be searching with the filter on so the correct ad will appear on their search.
Lovely staff who were welcoming and helpful. Beautiful and well maintained grounds with it being a golf course! Very clean (and big!) rooms, the spec of the interior was much much better than the likes of other accommodations for a similar price. Overall we were really happy with it.

United KingdomThe breakfast. Thankfully it was free. If i had paid, i would have sent it back. Cooked ‘help yourself’ breakfast wasn’t particularly hot, bacon was very fatty, sausages overcooked - The continental breakfast was better but also not great for the price of the stay.
Beautiful big room with balcony, comfortable bed and facilities where brilliant. Staff are really friendly and helpful!

United KingdomThe decor generally was a bit dated. The ability to make a decent coffee in the room would make a real difference! There was confusion at breakfast over what we had ordered. It was unclear why this had happened.
The location, in the Cheshire countryside is stunning. The room was spacious and clean, The pool and spa were clean and up to date. The reception staff were helpful.

United KingdomBreakfast was pretty average for the price. It was nice, but £10-12 for what you get wasnt anything to shout about. Also there was a mix up with the authorisation payment and had to wait 2 weeks to get it back including having to email to complain, but they were quick and understanding with how they dealt with it.
The hotel was lovely, very well kept, beautiful settings/surroundings. Location wasnt amazing for connections to main roads and getting to business premises. But over all really nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Gym and spa was amazing! Rooms executive looking and very comfy. Some of it a little tired, but over all no complaints. Love the comlimentary water and a couple of other little touches like that, very nice.

United KingdomStaff in restaurant were painfully slow. Both with evening meal and breakfast service. Took 25 mins to get served a glass of wine in the evening and ages before our food order was taken. Breakfast was worse but I had been warned not to have breakfast there, but I thought 50 mins would be long enough so went for it. Even though we paid the extra for the salmon we sadly didn’t have time to finish eating it as it arrived so late, my coffee arrived as we were about to leave. Such a shame as will have to make alternative arrangements next time we stay.
Lovely location, spacious comfortable room, clean with lovely big pillows, soft duvet and large bed. Nice toiletries and fresh new towels. plenty of parking. great shower too.

United KingdomDecor old fashioned and a bit tired. Asked for a quiet room but heard fans from above during the night. Cold tap difficult/hard to turn on. Fan not working in bathroom (been like that for years) so moisture goes straight out into the wardrobe where your clothes are and into room. Very comfy bed though!
Area. Out of the way. Countryside. Space.

United KingdomApart from the receptionist who booked us in, the rest of the staff we encountered seemed distracted or too busy to make any kind of greeting or conversation. The restaurant still had chips on the floor at breakfast from the previous nights dinner.

United KingdomI said in advance that I am disabled and, although I was assured that there are lifts, the room I was given was so far away from the lift that I was having problems breathing by the time I got in with my luggage. I have a service dog and one of the other guests had a dog that he kept letting wander around with it's lead trailing, it may have been friendly but my dog is there to work and would not react well to being followed and sniffed. I also received about 20 messages and texts from the hotel with offers or telling me to check out by 11am whilst I was still asleep on the day before check out day.
The staff were very pleasant. The setting is beautiful and the room was comfortable.

United KingdomBreakfast a little chaotic - I never did get any coffee the 2 mornings I stayed there. One gentleman fell down the step to the buffet (sign was put there later on to mind the step). The next day two guests pulled the serving trays onto the floor while trying to close the lids. No issues with staff or food.
