Our room sink was very slow drain and when we pulled the plug out clearly had eroded and had never been cleaned, There was no shower cap in bathroom, No food available for room service. Staff member sent me to a men’s toilet when I asked where they where I then walked in to a men’s toilet whilst two men where clearly stood at a urinal the staff didn’t know the building?

    Period property decor felt welcoming

Great staff and care and attention in a warm environment full of history, much more comfortable than all the ultra modern hotels that are grey and beige and like a posh clinic with zero atmosphere!

Although there were two fans in the room. It was absolutely sweltering all night and we barely slept plus we had the dog with us. He was up and down and panting all night and we had to keep putting him in the shower. Drive home was gruelling the next morning. Not sure if we were above the kitchen or not, it was room 106.

Hotel is absolutely beautiful and when we walked in it was just so cozy and I thought I wonder what this would’ve looked like at Christmas. We had a drink by the fire late at night and I didn’t want the night to end. Would love to stay again if I could afford it in the future.

The music & noise from the dinner dance not in every room but we was above it we was warned prior to arrival

We're into Tudor history so to stay in a Tudor manor was amazing to sit in the great hall & soak up the atmosphere. Grounds, river, views, food & staff were good

had a standard basic room ( 110) which was fine for the cost. Just a couple of notes - there is very little room from the toilet to the sink, its really cramped for anyone of a certain size.. I am average and skinny! The shower tray was not clean, found some unpleasant hair... not the biggest deal but not great nor expected. And bizarrely, there were crumbs (probably from cookies) and lint in the drawers beneath the tea and coffee unit, so did not want to put my clothes in any of the drawers..presumably sloppy room cleaning. Bed was very comfortable and the room overall was fine.

Great location, stunning hotel, very friendly staff and great bar food menu.. had the haddock, was fresh and really tasty, good selection of drinks, pretty cool ambience and decoration in the main room. Breakfast was also great and included in the room price !

No fitness room as far we are aware but were not expecting this.

The hotel is very atmospheric in a historical sense and we were pleasantly surprised when we walked through the main door. The cooked breakfast was excellent but there was a more limited choice for the continental breakfast although there was a bowl of fresh fruit salad and some tasty croissants, cereals etc. We chose a standard room on this occasion which was a bargain as it included breakfast. Although the photo of the room was small, it was in fact, modern and comfortable with all the usual amenities. Would love to try a suite on another occasion as there are were good deals.. great Xmas tree apparently arriving soon!

Our family room was spacious, however the single bed's mattress was uncomfortable and I would suggest requires replacement. Children who sleep well equates to happy parents :)

We booked Mitten Hall for it's location which was close to an event we were attending. Hotel was charming with lots of character. Staff were efficient and pleasant. Breakfast was of good quality and well presented. Our trip was mid-week when the hotel was quiet.

Uneven floors and stairs hazardous for elderly (and tipsy) customers. Bathroom in older rooms modernised but as usual with hotels hasn't got enough shelving and no hand grip to make getting out of bath/shower easier.

Interesting old building with modernised facilities. Poor weather scuppered opportunity to see the grounds which looked interesting.

There is a quaintness about the property, even a feeling of haunting, although no manifestation. It provided a sensation of excitement that we loved Our away dates are infrequent and with so many others Available we are unlikely to return but stress that this in no way suggests any dis-satisfaction

Well, unfortunately our lovely room The Queen room, had a very dirty toilet seat and had not been flushed since the previous occupant! It made me feel quite sick to be honest. I reported it to reception and they came to clean it. We were VERY disappointed that we weren’t compensated eg. a free meal or bottle of wine to make up for it, we were offered nothing.

Beautiful setting. Lovely feel to the whole place. The restaurant was very busy the evening we arrived but they were wonderful by fitting us in. Jacob, was SO busy and SO wonderful, along with the only other person working along side him that evening. Jacob deserves a bonus for how hard he works, NOTHING was too much trouble for him, he really went above and beyond.

Stay was lovely. Bit fragmented communication via booking.com and direct on dinning options for kids/vegan plus cot element but all sorted in the end. As anniversary would have been nice touch to have a note in room or something to say welcome back but again it’s not an issue

Returned for our wedding anniversary. Lovely showing kids where we got married and reminiscing
