The additional charge of £20 per dog per night was quite steep and added at lot to the end total. However they were made very welcome.

Good range of options for breakfast and evening meal. As we were travelling with dogs, we ate at a table provided in the bar area rather than restaurant but this was to our advantage. This was reserved throughout our stay. Room was large and well equipped. This is a Victorian building with plenty of character. Yes some areas are showing their age, but this added to the character of the property. All areas were spotlessly clean. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and really make this hotel. The location is easy to find from the A9 and short walk into the town.

We were staying for 2 nights, our room wasn't made up at all during that time, however family, who were next door, had their room made up. One of the rooms had clearly had an upgrade compared to the other. We had 2 twin rooms. The room I was in with one family member didn't have a head board and we kept hitting our heads in the picture above the bed when sitting up. The bathroom was also very dated and the shower could do with being upgraded. Beds weren't very comfortable but did us for the two nights and what we needed.

We liked that the hotel was close to our families homes as we were visiting for my grandfather's funeral. Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough. Loved the vintage feel of the hotel. We used to visit Tain frequently over the years, not so much in recent years. Was very nostalgic as we would often come to the Morangie for family dinners when we came to visit.

We were a bit disappointed that the whole pizza menu wasn't available in the evening, but the meal we did have there one of the evenings we stayed was excellent.

Very good breakfast. Easy parking, and easy access off the Tain bypass (A9). Make sure your satnav doesn't send you round the back of the hotel - it is the second right turn, not the first. Lovely large room, but warm and cosy, despite the weather being very cold. Decent sized ensuite bathroom. Would stay here again.

Honestly cannot find anything to criticise

Everyone was very friendly. The hotel was immaculately clean and full of Highland character. The room was outstanding - very spacious, well decorated, comfortable and quiet. I like to take frequent breaks from the Isle of Skye several times a year in order to write and walk on the sunnier side and this was, by far, the best hotel in which I’ve stayed. Tain is great for exploring btw!

From my experiences the food can be expensive and the water pressure for the showers isn’t the best.

The property has a lovely feel to it, comfortable and friendly. Great setup for families travelling with children, cot and bedding provided. The food is always served with good portions and tastes lovely, both breakfast and dinner. The rooms are a great size and very comfortable. Good heating throughout the hotel as well.

Dated and in need of a clean in some areas but the location, staff and value for money outweigh the decor.

My room was quite cold when I arrived and the window was very drafty during the cold, stormy weather we were having. I managed to 'bleed' the radiator in the bedroom which improved the situation but was unable to do the same with the one in the bathroom.

A lovely old building with lots of character. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu was very good with lots of choice.

The bathrooms could benefit from a little modernisation although I liked my retro facilities, avocado set with a corner bath. Very Wes Anderson!

A beautiful hotel with well proportioned rooms. The staff were exceptionally helpful and lovely, they really went above and beyond. Dinner was fantastic and an excellent whisky selection.

It’s looking very tired now. I mentioned at the time that I was upset that the housekeeping team tried to enter my room one and a half hours before checkout and I was still in. A key was used without a knock or calling to me. This won’t stop me from staying again but it should be noted as bad practice.

The location is ideal when I visit my daughter. Reception and waitress team’s excellent, friendly and helpful.

Entrance door to hotel was shoddy and outside decking attached to dining room looked home made and cheap, it lets the hotel down. Food prices were too high ie £19:95 for fish and chips, really. Shower was very poor, no pressure and would not hold the temperature.

staff on at breakfast time were very nice and actual breakfast was good. Room was clean, large and tidy. Plenty of hot water to the sink.

First night the room felt like everything was squeezed in and there was a lot of dust and cobwebs. If I'm paying extra for the room to be cleaned because we have a dog I expect the room to be cleaned properly in the first place. Second night, a week later, different room and much better. However, the bed was two singles pushed together with one relatively new and comfortable mattress and one that felt like it was last changed in the 80's along with the rest of the decor.

Staff really friendly and chatty. Food was excellent.
