Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe mattress was a bit on the firm side for me (personal preference)
Breakfast was very good . Lots of choice . Location was very good - in the town centre - especially as I was going to the Marlowe Theatre which is opposite the hotel . My room was small but perfectly adequate for one person . Everywhere was very clean .

United StatesLocation was great, cute room (stayed in one for a family), large bathroom, very clean, friendly staff, great breakfast. We truly enjoyed staying here! One thing to note, which was not an issue for us because we had very little luggage, but the staircase to the rooms is fairly narrow. However, we felt it added to the charm of the old building! (And maybe there's an elevator somewhere?)

United KingdomThe property was located perfectly, we were in the centre but tucked away too. The street view from our room was quaint and romantic. The staff were lovely and very attentive when I asked for oat milk. The property had steep stairs but this was no problem for us, it made the cosy vibe real. Continental breakfast was nice but I wish they had a toaster for guests to use and some more selection. Would definitely stay here again on our next trip back to Canterbury.

RomaniaFor me these weren't a problem, but maybe it may concern others - the room is really small, so if you prefer hotels with spacious rooms this is not the place for you. Also the window is really small, so there is not too much natural light in the room. The breakfast is not too rich, doesn't have many options, however there are many places near the hotel where you can grab a good coffee and a sandwich or a muffin on the go.
For me it was a great place to stay for a few days. It checked all my requirements: clean and welcoming room with its own bathroom, hot water (really important for me :)) ), quiet atmosphere (great for a good night rest), considerate staff (patient, smiling all the time, communicative and they recommended a great place to eat dinner), near by the city center, good WiFi.

United KingdomFirst room I was offered really a box room - too small even for one! Hotel in general a bit run down, eg the bathroom and stairs up to rooms. Breakfast simple, and no cooked food..
Friendly, efficient staff. Helpful over parking arrangements. Understanding when I wanted to change my room.

United KingdomThe bar could have been open in the evening. It was Saturday!
The location was excellent being in the middle of town. We used park and ride which was not mentioned on booking.com and should be as it is much easier to do that than drive to the local car park. Room comfortable with a four poster bed! A little small for us, but what a change!

United KingdomThe room smelled as if somebody had been smoking in it, and there was no cooked breakfast at all. We hadn't realised that before we booked. Also the TV options were dreadful - we couldn't even get the 5 basic channels - just BBV - and other than that it was just shopping channels and the like.
Fantastic location and friendly staff. The room was clean and pleasant. .

United KingdomThe stairs were a little steep to the rooms, but that's just because the hotel is charming and historic. I found the pillows a little heavy , but again, it's personal choice.
The hotel is very quaint and in a wonderful location for the Marlow Theatre and many restaurants . Close to the city centre too and about 10 minutes to walk to Canterbuy West Station. The staff are lovely , the rooms are in keeping with the old part of the city and just right. The continental breakfast is really nice and much better than other places I've been too, and constantly refilled. It's literally 2 minutes to the Theatre which was great! You could almost pop back to your room during the interval and still have time for a drink before the second half of the show ! I would definitely stay here again!

ThailandNo private car park but nearby/smallish walk to public car park. Hotel arrange payment for customer on line and Car can come and go at anytime with automated barriers. Easy process. Likely more challenging if had big heavy cases. But worth more enquiry if so. Breakfast was typically continental with plenty of choice . Some options for Gluten Free but more limited.
Ease of access, good location as very close to the historic centre, comfortable accommodation, good bathroom shower. Hotel is historic looking, Public parking facility is extra and a small walk away for most able bodied/fit persons.
