Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel is in a quiet corner of the island directly opposite a slipway down to a beach. My room was spotlessly clean when I got back each day. Breakfasts each morning were consistently excellent. Food arrived promptly and staff were unfailingly polite and attentive. I dined at the hotel one evening and that meal was also excellent. I would happily stay again.

United KingdomBathroom rather dated. Shower mixer taps above bath difficult to use to get a consistent water temperature. Room quite small. Smaller than it looked in the photo.

United KingdomThe number of stairs needed to climb as there wasn’t a lift. The location of the kettle in the room wasn’t ideal as there was little space to boil it on the small shelf and the cord for the hair-dryer and kettle were too short. A shame there wasn’t a fridge in the room and a mirror in the bathroom.
Location near to the sea in an attractive residential area and about 20 mins from St Helier along the coast on a regular bus every 15 mins till late at night which cost £2.24 each way.I didn’t try the pool but it was heated and looked good and was secluded, surrounded by attractive outdoor furniture. Shower worked very well and there was very good sound insulation as well excellent insulation altogether with a fan in the room for hot weather. Attractively decorated large room with a large single bed with white cotton sheets and substantial tasteful wooden furniture. The breakfast, lounge and bar area were large and well decorated. The staff were extremely helpful and highly efficient. My room was cleaned very well indeed. Breakfast was excellently cooked and I and many others were served swiftly.

United KingdomYou had to sit at the same table in the dining room every day. Our table was really close to two other tables and difficult to get seated into without brushing up to people on opposite tables. On several occasions we felt really uncomfortable having a conversation as people werent speaking so there was this awful deadly silence. Speaking to waiting staff was the only break from this and trying to maintain a normal speaking conversation felt really strained. One day a couple were sitting at 'our' table so we sat elsewhere under the instruction of the waiting staff. No choice offered even though dining room was quite empty. The staff made us feel like we were being difficult and made a bit of a fuss because they had to find some cutlery for us. It would have been friendlier if people could choose where they sat.
We liked the location, the outdoor pool and the good breakfast.

United KingdomThe shower in our bathroom lacked power.
We had a balcony room with a sea view including breakfast. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable and the breakfast menu was extensive. The staff were friendly and helpful. The heated outdoor pool, which I used twice was very warm and clean. We ate dinner at the hotel for two nights and whilst the dinner menu was not extensive, it was different every day and included at least four choices of main course.

ChileThe table allocation for breakfast is sufficiently weird. You cannot choose where to sit. Instead, they will give you a table (in our case, somewhere in the back) even though most tables remained empty throughout our short stay. Surely, there is a rationale behind this seemingly unnecessarily bureaucratic allocation though I would argue that 99% of all hotels (ranging from very small to very large) cannot be stupid by allowing people to sit wherever they want.
The location and views of the hotel are as good as it gets if you are after a peaceful stay with amazing sea views. Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to check out the pool due to the Great British weather. There is a lovely pub close by. A shout-out to the lovely man at the reception who helped us arrange a taxi for an early-morning flight. Notably, this wasn't as easy as it sounds as there are fewer taxis on the island than you would expect.

Excellent breakfast, great service and extremely friendly and courteous staff - everyone was very helpful and this is a lovely hotel the room was good with a balcony overlooking the beach, the hotel is old fashioned inside but is extremely comfortable and clean. Would stay again thank you .On the number 1 bus route so the bus stops right outside the hotel and runs every 20 mins to Gorey and St Helier. There is a swimming pool which is heated but we did not use it.

United KingdomWhen we were booking the hotel we explored a number of options on line and chose the Pontac House Hotel because it was a good value family run hotel. We were delighted with our choice. The room was clean and very comfortable but most importantly the staff were excellent with a friendly professional attitude to their work, and their attention to detail was second to none. It is rare to find such excellent quality at such an affordable price. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

JerseyThe weather! Nothing can be done about this, but the beautiful setting is so close to the beach, we enjoyed walks along the beach, but it was not warm enough to sit be the pool!
The dining room staff were amazing and although we only had breakfast here during this stay, we have had dinner there frequently before and all the food is excellent. Compliments to Peter the chef and his staff. Maria and Connie are super efficient, friendly and professional. Thanks for making our staff so special. Reception staff helpful too. The cleanliness was excellent and although this hotel is old fashioned with old fashioned values, the staff, service, friendliness are of much more value. The bedrooms are very clean with modern accessories and the pillows are wonderful. Actually I would like to buy some!
