How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Property feels dated in corridors

The meal was appalling for the money. £65 and I wouldn’t have paid more £15. The service seemed as though it was students who had never done it before. The table wasn’t cleared properly between courses. Our table never even got offered bread rolls. When I asked about them they brought some over in middle of main course which were part baked and we all know as soon as they go cold they are rock hard

Nothing major but is definitely starting to look a bit dated and some places could really do with touching up
Great size family room, kids love the pool, good location near my husbands family who we were visiting and also great that they do gluten free items for my husband who is coeliac

Dated building, rooms were dusty and bathrooms were a little beat up and grimey. Stayed in junior suite which wasn't much more than a double room with a pull out sofa bed. Double room was okay but bathroom could do with an update.
Staff were as helpful on the day even though over the phone I requested connecting rooms and the staff member said this was possible, only to find our I had to upgrade in the day for the request to be fulfilled.

The only thing wrong that we found was a massive stain on the carpet if it wasn't for that we would of given it a 10

The bathroom needs improving, shower designed in a way where water gets everywhere. Could do with being made more modern.
The room was spacious, comfy sleep and nice additional amenities such as coffee and tea. Good that the supplied extra things such as hairdryer and extra pillows.

Noise from TV in the next room, rooms are now looking a little dated.

Door to the room needed a paint as chipped and missing like some had knocked it through - liked a bit tired.
Well signposted easy to find. Comfortable bed and nice big room. Clean and tidy.

Food was average and the breakfast more expensive than warranted the quality. The coffee is not good.
Large and very clean room. Bath with shower attachment. Quiet with lovely view from the large window. The swimming pool ( in need of refurbishment ) was warm and the jaccuzzi very good. The staff were lovely; certainly the highlight of our stay

The food selection and the price of our stay the food was very expensive and not lot to choose from the price of stay was high for one night and that’s not with breakfast we had to pay separate
The room was clean tidy staff where friendly the only down fall was the price of there menu and not the best selection for evening found it very expensive breakfast was good but most places I stay breakfast in with price

The swimming pool had stuff on the bottom of the pool and my feet kept getting hurt while in water as I had to hold my little one. And there was a small tile in the bottom of the swimming pool
I liked everything to be honest, and it wasn’t that expensive, great value for money

the bath had a screen which wouldn’t open as it was too near the sink - so had to get in the bath to turn on the taps or shower ! nobody replenished the tea etc on 2nd day so had to ask
the room was big and bright overlooking the gardens - bed was really comfortable with extra pillow. good location for shops and into hull . forgot my swimming costume otherwise would have loved the pool !
