Whilst the bedroom was comfortable everything was a bit tired and in need of an upgrade. The bathroom was functional but not great. In particular, the bath panel was badly cracked.

Very good food at dinner and breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

We did have a little issue with the plumbing, and the floor was rather creaky.

We chose this hotel as a stopover, but wished we could have stayed longer. It is an attractive old pub, set in a tiny hamlet, close to walking trails. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the ambience of the public rooms was charming. Our room was small but comfortable: the bed was also small but comfy. Dinner was delicious, and breakfast was served cooked to order. We would recommend this hotel as a destination, rather than a stopover.

I’m glad I bought my ear plugs as the floor boards are creaky and the rooms are above the pub, so noise expected. It didn’t affect me though with my ear plugs. So recommend you bring a pair to have a alround comfortable stay/sleep.

Set in a beautiful location, the staff were exceptionally friendly, polite and professional. The room was comfortable, I had the lamb shank for evening which was delicious and the breakfast included was also very nice.

Rooms outdated and there was renovation being done in the room next door which lead to loads of dust and smell from what I assume was welding into our room.

Breakfast was very good we paid for dinner as well which was very pricy but also good. Staff was very friendly and very accommodating for a dog companions. The area around was stunning!

Really only minor things which I wouldn't bother to mention unless asked: the bathroom was a bit tired but it didn't impact on our stay.

Good location near to Ullswater and Glenridding. Lovely, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast and very good evening meal - fairly standard bar menu but well-presented and good portions. Large room with good facilities.

The shower gel was empty in the bathroom, but otherwise all good.

Beautiful, quiet location, 5 min drive from Aira Force waterfall. Historic inn. Well-cooked, homely food. Great staff. New owner is charming, and keen to get client's views on any improvements, and to make the hotel environmentally sustainable.

The room was very basic. It was clean and functional but lacking warmth and personality. It didn't bother us as we had just an overnight stay, but there's no storage for clothes, no drawers or wardrobe.

The location was absolutely perfect, so peaceful and quiet. The staff were friendly and the dinner we had was great. Good pub grub. The bed was extremely comfortable and soft.

Breakfasts were brilliant, lots of choice, also happy to customize them to your requirements too. Coffee was good, plenty of it and loved the cafetiere. I need one of those. 😊 Comfortable bed, very clean with lovely fresh linen We were well looked after. Would stay here again. Our little terrier made welcome too. Would only just like to say the property a little dated, but standards are high.
