How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

No places to hang towels, no toilet brush. No ironing board but there was an iron! No spare blanket (if we'd been cold).
Comfortable room, welcoming staff. Good choice of breakfast. Quiet.

Didn't get much sleep due to noise from outside. Was unable to obtain a drink (at just after 11pm) from the bar, even to take back to the room.
Location was good for access to main areas of interest.

Lift not working so a bit of exercise needed to get to the 3rd floor.
Great location, staff and comfortable bed. Refurbished room also very nice.

Was noisy through vents on windows and window kept banging and you couldn’t take your own food or drink in your room

We can’t say anything bad about the property.

The breakfast worth the money

Only downside was it is quite close to a night club which was really loud so we didn’t sleep well due to noise. Think that was just because of where our room was. In other rooms I don’t think the noise would have been bad. Would definitely still come back to the hotel!

They take a 50£ holding fee which is meant to be “pending fee” but has been taken out of my bank and was advised it will take 5-10 working days to get back. The hotel is under renovation so you may get a old room or a new one. The window in our room was single glass and was banging against the frame all night- we had to lodge something in it to stop it from rattling.
Hotel is in a good location.

Mattresses, we seemed to be in one of the new rooms, so quite disappointing. Literally it just collapsed when you sat on it.
Staff great, dealt with over booking very well and the beer in the bar why we waited was appreciated. Easy location and fair price.

On both nights I was woken by people coming out of later night venue. It is to be expected when you stay so central but people should be aware of it. Shower was okay, water pressure was mediocre.
Great location in City Centre. Bedroom was nice, adequate size. Bar area was nice, had a drink there but did not have any food in the hotel. It is right beside Matthew Street so you are walking distance from the night life if that is what you are looking for. We arrived on an early flight and the Reception took our bags into storage so we did not have to carry them around the city for the day.

Nowhere to store your bags if you arrive a little early. Had to carry them around the city whilst we waited to check in. This is the only negative. A bag store would make this place 10/10

My only sort of complaint is the blinds didn’t really keep out much light so the room wasn’t really dark enough to have an uninterrupted sleep as the light kept wakening us but apart from that no complaints from me!
It was lovely & fancy, classy & regal feeling. It was also super close to everything as it’s right in city centre. The staff were all very polite, friendly and accommodating & let us keep our suitcase at reception until our flight.

The heating wasn't quite as warm as I would have liked. The place was rather empty, so there wasn't much of an atmosphere.
I loved the Olde World feel of the place - full of character! The location was perfect - right in the heart of the city. Room and en suite was all we could have asked for.
