Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom quite small. Could have done with a rug on the floor. Stairs to the room not that easy to manage for older folk but we were told there were stairs.
Beds very comfortable, very clean. Breakfast good. Nice dining area. Staff pleasant.

United KingdomBathroom was tired. Cracks on the tiles, broken hook on the back of the door, shower leaked as there was a gap underneath. Venetian blinds won’t keep out the early light during the Summer. Radiator was a bit erratic. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t.
It’s was in a nice quiet location with plenty of parking. Beds were very comfy, lovely soft sheets. Good food and staff were lovely, esp Kath and Paul.

United KingdomThe only thing is that you have to walk outside to get keys in the club house. Also there isn't a lift which wasnt a problem but could be for elderly.
Fantastic breakfast included all fresh and individually cooked. Beds very comfortable and rooms clean and pleasant.

United KingdomAs golf club was shut on Sunday evening it felt a little deserted there (we thought we may be the only guests but there turned out to be one other there too) but we knew that was going to be the case so not a problem.
Very helpful staff - we were a bit late getting there but they had waited for us (as club was closing). Everything clean and working. Toiletries and hospitality tray generous. Breakfast freshly cooked and very nice. Relaxed atmosphere and able to help ourselves to everything.

United KingdomLight above mirror in bathroom didn't work in either my room or my parents room.
Breakfast was made available earlier than advertised after we made a specific request. Really friendly staff who opened up early for us so we had time to eat before heading off for my son's graduation...thank you so much!

United KingdomAside from the appalling weather which they couldn't do anything about, we found the Mewslade room rather on the small side, it really should be a single room with 1 bed, you would need to be on good terms with your room mate to sleep here. If we go again, I will ask for a larger room.
We ate breakfast there on the 3 mornings of our stay and it quite satisfactory, although my wife said the gluten free bread was quite tough to eat when toasted. We also had Sunday lunch, traditional carvery, 2 courses £15, good value for money.

United KingdomIt is always nice to have two comfy chairs in the room rather than just one, though to be fair there was not really room for another. There are some rooms with views of the golf course. Others including ours this time either look over car park and housing, or have no view, only high velux windows. In winter this did not matter in the least. But in the summer it is nice to have the views!
The room was quiet and comfortable, plenty of warmth. Plenty of hot water, a good shower and tea making facilities. The breakfast is excellent. Individually cooked to order.

United KingdomNo indication of where to collect/return the keys for the room. Unfortunately the noise. I was kept awake/woken several times by someone in the room above who was stomping around like an elephant. Machinery being driven around at 6am from the garage/building out back.
The accomodation was very clean and tidy with comfy beds, a TV, plenty of tea and coffee, a large wardrobe and double shower. Fixtures and fittings were of a high standard. The breakfast was also very nice with lots of choice including yoghurts, fresh fruit, cereals and full English breakfast.

AustraliaCheck in is in the clubhouse bar which seems obvious once you know, but was not easy to workout from the signs! The rooms are small which was not a problem for one night.
The hotel is located at the golf course and has lovely views from the clubhouse restaurant. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast, served in the clubhouse restaurant, was excellent!

United KingdomIt was really hard to find! We arrived in the rain and the dark. The Sat nav took us to somewhere further back down the road and then we couldn't see any signs for Somerfield Lodge. Eventually spotted a tiny sign with symbols for a golf course and accommodation, so followed those. Once in the car park it was hard to find a sign for where to go next - a small brown sign isn't very visible at night! Rather annoying to lug bags up 2 flights of stairs to be told we were in the building next door! Clearer signage could solve these problems.
Lovely breakfast with a great view of the golf course. Room looked recently decorated and had everything we needed.

United KingdomAs my husband's 24/7 carer we struggled to get up the stairs, so a lift would have been wonderful. no fault of the lodge but I booked before asking if there was a lift, so it meant quite a stressful time when we went out or over to breakfast. everything else was great
Breakfast was amazing and all the staff were so very helpful. the view over the golf course whist having a breakfast was very relaxing . the room was very clean, warm and comfortable.

The room was really clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and the the golf club was wonderful with lots of memorabilia and a lovely dining area. Breakfast was delicious and the view overlooking the golf course, complete with golfers and sheep in the sunshine was a delight. We will definitely stay at Somerfield Lodge again.

United KingdomThere is a Aircon unit for the club bar cellar that is very noisy and switches off and on all night, which gave us a sleepless night. The club house went on to winter hours on 1 Oct which meant the bar and restaurant closed at 18:00(6pm). We had to drive into town, pay for parking, not drink alcohol and find somewhere to eat. On return to the accommodation we were the only residents and there were no staff at all. The isolation could worry some people. Dark, misty and all alone.
The bathroom and bedroom were big. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The breakfast was good and a varied choice
