I thought it was disappointing to have to pay for car parking and the wellness facilities for each visit.. on top of the price we paid for the room ! The room housekeeping was poor.. no tea /coffee etc replaced after first day , shower cosmetic bottles were empty and not replaced. It was noisy in the room with traffic and people shouting outside at all hours of the night.

Just the parking quite tight in the car park and no guarantee to get disabled space closer to the hotel entrance.

The staff were absolutely amazing! Well trained and great customer service!! Very helpful and accommodating!!

We had to pay for the facility which was not great as booked it because of this reason.Bedroom was tiny not what it showed before booking it.And the prices in the hotel was really really expensive. It was definitely not good for money which was a shame. But we had a good time apart from that

It's was really nice down stairs, clean room but did find blood on on of the doors. And swimming pool was good and jacuzzi

TV very poor but was changed on second day but no Netflix however. Room needs painting and updating as furniture very dated. We could hear neighbours through interconnecting door and they came back to the room at 1 am and put the tv on so more soundproofing needed.

Fridge in room and safe in room - both very useful. Shower was good but screen did allow water to escape onto the floor Helpful and friendly staff in all departments.

Loved the on site pool which was not charged as we had booked before 1st April. Once you charge £10 ppp use we will not use the pool so May book elsewhere. This also applies to the £15 per day parking charge - why not make a reduced rate per length of stay?

My family would have had breakfast if the costs were individual -not a total figure for whatever one might select. I eat one item for breakfast such as fruit or toast. My husband likes just egg on toast & my daughter just cereal & coffee. Therefore we felt the inclusive price was too much for our requirements.

The bedroom was a family room. Normal bed comfy. The double sofa bed n single bed are here do us, mattress is awful can feel all the metal really uncomfortable, my 7 year old told me not sleeping in that, it's horrible and lumpy.

Lovely as you walk in, reception staff fantastic. All staff are helpful and kind.

I thought the pool should be included in the price. The coffee machine was not operating during our stay so service in the bar was slow

Our trip coincided with a large group at the hotel. This group were continually running up and down hallways making lots of noise and generally disrespecting other guests. Staff appeared to be finding it difficult to ask this group to be more respectful, although I can appreciate the difficulty this presented. We also booked our stay on the premise of the spa facilities being included in the price. This was not the case, as recently as charge has been applied. It would have been good to have this communicated before.

Brilliant location, with a sizeable and comfortable room. Bathroom especially was lovely. Spa/fitness facilities were reasonable.

The bedrooms at the Southgate are now looking hugely tired and could benefit with an overhaul. I’ve been staying here since it was the MacDonald Southgate over ten years ago and the rooms don’t appear to have been updated since then. I was also checked into an already-occupied room which is always an uncomfortable experience.

The main lobby area and bar still look really good and it looks like the leisure facilities have been recently refurbished.

Our room looked clean at first glam, but there was a pair of dirty pants under the side table. So cleaners had obviously not noticed this, which made us question how thorough the cleaning had been!!!!

The hotel lock didn’t work. In fact 4 other rooms had the same problem. They did attend quickly, replace the door lock batteries and reconfigured the lock. The bar didn’t have any snaks and the bar maid didn’t speak any English

Male receptionist was very good. Chatty and engaging

Our room was facing the road and the single glazed windows were not great at dulling the outside noise. Also, we had requested a copy of the hotel menu both through Booking.com and email and never had a response. We ate our evening meal and breakfast at Cosy Club across the road.

We have stayed here many times as it's such a great location for the shops and restaurants. Our room was better than last time when some of the furniture was scuffed. Room not particularly great value but I had a discount.
