Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBeing charged £50 for a tiny very uncomfortable camp bed without a proper duvet and no extra towels in the room for our daughter. I have no objection to paying a little more for the extra bed, but £50 for what was provided felt like a rip off!
Beautiful boutique hotel, in stunning location on the river.

United States of AmericaThe front side of the property is on a somewhat busy road. We were warm in our room so we slept with the window open. Quite a bit of road noise. The breakfast was very expensive. We had just spent seven days traveling through Bath and Cornwall and Devon, with full English breakfast at every accommodation. This is the only one where we had to each pay for the breakfast. The breakfast was very expensive. Very pretty view out onto the river. And a lovely historic building.

United KingdomParts of the hotel need a fresh coat of paint - it’s looking tired in places, for example, there are lots of chips where cases have banged the skirting on the way up and down the stairs. You also need to be prepared for very wonky floors depending on which part of the house you’re in. The two, ripped armchairs in the hallway to the right of reception have transcended ‘statement piece’ and now either need repairing, or getting rid of. We could literally only get sky news on the tv, no other channels. The finish in the bathroom was iffy, with cracks in ceiling paintwork and rough patches etc. We had the kitchen table breakfast at £16 per head, but the menu didn’t make clear that it only includes one hot beverage, so we unwittingly ended up paying an extra £9 for another 2 very small cups of coffee. (The cups throughout the hotel are small even by teacup standards). The car parking is safe but expensive with no information on how to find it given in sits away from the hotel on the opposite side of the road, and trying to spot the hotel in the dark when driving isn’t easy due to there only being one small sign on the gatepost. For the prices charged and the market clearly being aimed for, there were a lot of surprisingly rough edges in terms of finish and quality that let the hotel down.
The ‘cosy room’ booked was indeed that - it was warm and comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful, and the quality of the food and drink was good. It was properly clean, with attention to detail in the cleaning and how the room was presented. There was decaf pod coffee available in the rooms, along with UHT oat milk, which is a first for us and great because my partner has issues with dairy. Loved the duvet and linens, loved the overall feel of the room. We also really liked the artwork throughout the hotel. The surroundings are beautiful on the riverside, and well worth a stroll, whilst also only being a 10 minute walk to the town centre, Coach Lasso’s apartment, and Richmond theatre, which is what we were staying there for. Staff were quick to reply to queries ahead of arriving. Although we feel it could be better value for money, we would stay there again.

United KingdomThe square meterage of the room and the angle of the ceiling directly over the bed
Our room was well furnished and fitted out to a good standard, it was just too small for true comfort to be fair it was in the attic of the building I didn't know this when booking.

United KingdomAgreed to take Amex then refused at checkout (despite having paid for the meal with Amex) now charged two cards requiring admin and chasing to recover despite agreeing they would call us before charging the holding card. Rooms feel a bit tired and lack lighting options at the desk for work or makeup. Toiletries smelt awful but appreciate that is personal taste.

United KingdomWhen we arrived at our room there were staff in the very small corridor outside the room and it felt a little imposing for myself and my partner. That was the only issue.
Very friendly and welcoming. The drawing room for lunch was gorgeous. The staff were so helpful. They also ensured the room was ready before bed time. Also they let us leave bags befire check in and after check out so we could see the area around the hotel. Great place right on the river. It was such a wonderful experience.

United KingdomThe 'cosy' room was certainly that, some might call it tiny! Coombed ceilings were a challenge (and we're tiny ourselves!) The bar was gorgeous but very expensive (London prices I guess, even worse than Edinburgh 😁). The room has a mini bar, but no price list (that I could find), so a bit scared to try anything!!
Great location. Close to station and right on the river. Lovely apartments and great public areas. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfy bed, air-con, lovely bathroom.

United KingdomThe room was a little stuffy so I had to have the windows open. It rained in the night and soaked my luggage which was on the luggage rack positioned by the window.
Beautiful, spacious bedroom with very comfortable bed and settee. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and made a fuss of my dogs. The copper bathtub in the room is fabulous! The river view is lovely and calming, especially beautiful at sunset.
