Quaint and quirky Everything you would expect from a country pub The staff were very friendly and food was excellent

Unfortunately the room a couple doors was being painted and I couldn’t sleep due to the smell of paint

Nothing. The only gripe was the instant coffee machine, i couldnt get it to work. Which could have been easily rectified if i had spoken to the cleaners or front of house. But i wasnt in need of a coffee that bad so it slipped my mind.

The food was exceptional, all of it! From the bread at breakfast to the burger at dinner. All of the staff were lovely and they seemed genuinely interested in what we had to say. The room was quirky and the location was out of this world. We had a walk up and down the village and felt like we were back home in the Cotswolds (ish, between the dales and the moors we felt extra countrified)

The attention to detail was the best I've seen in a longtime. The Kate star room was perfect, decor was lovely. Coffee maker choice of beverages the curly wurly was greatly appreciated. Fabulous size bath and toiletries. Room lovely and warm. Sofa area perfect. Even though room was above the bar it was quiet. Hairdryer and bathrobes iron all brilliant. Safe big carpark. Lots of places to sit outside. Really friendly staff and amazing food.

We had a meal that evening in the cosy bar area which was nice. The only negative was the meal I chose the sauce was too much and too runny and the fish was a little chewy . I didn't say anything in the evening as it was a special night but did mention it the next morning. The meals were also a bit pricey for what you had but overall it was very satisfactory.

It was a very conformable overnight stay as it was our onward journey further up North. We were made welcome and had an upgrade as it was available for our birthday celebration which was much appreciated as the new room was much more spacious and upmarket. We were most thankful for that.

Fantastic place to stay. It’s a must. I have already re booked. Lovely room big bed comfortable and big room. Food was fantastic and room and whole place lovely and clean. There was nothing we didn’t like about The Black Horse. The company that owns it has it spot on.

Superb as usual. We have stayed at the Black Horse on a number of occasions and have never be disappointed. Good location, large parking area, nice rooms, excellent food and spotlessly clean. Very pleasant staff.

Lovely, cosy pub with rooms adjacent. Food was gorgeous. Had Sunday lunch and a wonderful cooked breakfast. Bar had a great atmosphere and staff were friendly and very accommodating.

Room was a good size. Very clean and comfy bed. Had a ground floor room with patio doors onto a grassy area, ideal as we had our dog.

Didn't think the room was a 5 star as it stated, furniture could do with a bit of TLC, some doors Ill fitting although the room had everything you needed.

Nothing at all, my only hicup was the temp in the pub in the evening - but it was busy so can't really complain.

Incredible food, lovely food and a perfect breakfast the following morning. Nothing too much to ask. Evening food menu had a great selection of dishes and all cooked to perfection. Highly recommend for anyone, will definitely be returning.

We were in a very spacious room with a huge bed Getting in one side was fine, but it only left a squeeze by space on the other side to get into it. I may have missed the information but hadn’t realised the room was in an annexe a few yards down the road.

Great village location not far off the motorway. Lovely old building with a friendly atmosphere. There was a good choice for a tasty breakfast and we enjoyed our evening meal here too. Good for people with dogs.

At 6ft 3in, the bed was far too small for me Also, I'm not so sure about the Bath in the main room. (We were in the Annexe room, Dessert Orchid)
