How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Gorgeous hotel, we were made to feel very welcome by the owners. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We had a lovely meal and the breakfast was delicious. A beautiful village setting, so peaceful and our little dog was also made very welcome which for us is a huge bonus. Thank you for a great stay 0

Really nice people run this nice hotel. It is out of the way but close enough to the centre of town and main roads so perfect for me. Really comfy beds and clean rooms.

on the face of it the room was ok, however the level of cleaning (deep clean) was below par considering the price

Nice service considering the amount of people, Private car park, The look and feel of the place just out the Costswold, A bus away from Oxford, just up the road, so easy !

Have previously stayed here . Now new owners and you can see they have been making decorative changes . Still needs some improvement however . Furniture in room surfaces worn . Shower some revealing required . However it is a lot cleaner than before . Kettle with Tea coffee in room . Hairdryer . Needs more info in guest folder as to what is to do in area etc . We only paid 80 pounds for one night so can’t complain really . Dog allowed and cost 20.00
Close to relative we were visiting . Good rate for one night . Evening meal available.

The dinner menu was basic with reliance on frozen foods. Breakfast was very limited with no choices available , no fruit juice or cereals.
The staff were pleasant and courteous. The room was spacious . The bathroom was clean. The room was warm and the heating controllable .

Lack of atmosphere. Little effort made.
A beautiful pub but little atmosphere. Such a shame as lots of potential. Rooms small but ok. Food ok but both food and drinks are expensive. Could be so much better.

The staff were helpful and friendly although on arrival the owner was a little brusque. We stayed over New Year and had a lovely time. The rooms were clean and comfortable but could have done with a little updating in places.
Comfortable room and delicious home-cooked Indian food in the evening. Lovely breakfast in the morning. Good location - ideally placed for the Park and Ride into Oxford. Accessible car park and pretty village.

Ensuite cramped, shower in bath with no grab rail or mat. Breakfast rather basic, no cereals, jam or fruit juice. Just a fried breakfast with toast, tea or coffee. Dinner expensive for what you got. £7 for 3 samosas as a starter with no side salad. £15 per head for basic chicken curry and rice with a broken up poppadom, no naan bread.
Comfortable bed, good access to A40.

Not really anything we disliked. We would have liked a menu for the breakfast options, to avoid having to ask several questions as to what was available.

Lovely country pub near to Blenheim Palace. Very welcoming family who run the place. Fantastic curry and reasonably priced drinks. Will definitely return.
