Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWhile my experience at the Dower House Hotel was largely positive, one minor aspect that posed a challenge for me was its remote location in the woods. Walking back to the hotel after dark proved to be a bit daunting particularly during late night hours but all the same love the property .
My stay at the Dower House Hotel was absolutely delightful. Nestled in serene surroundings, the ambiance exudes tranquility, making it a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life and also for it is just 6-8mins walk to Woodhall spa manor where we were guests to a birthday party hosted was the highlight of the weekend . A Warm welcome smile from the receptionist said it all .

United KingdomThe room was rather warm, and the only way to keep it cool was to open windows. It's not a major issue but a waste of energy. The tv is an old flatscreen type that does not have catch-up channels. Needs updating. Again, it's not a major issue.
Large pleasant room with a super king bed. Excellent shower. Quiet location with good car parking. Lovely grounds. Good breakfast in a pleasant breakfast room.

United KingdomNothing to dislike at all. If you don't like this place you are very hard to please.
The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, Obviously the selection process is very good. The food was excellent, we had both breakfast and an evening meal. A little pricier than we would normally choose, because it is more high end, but not so much so that you didn't feel comfortable (we had a suite). Very homely and pleasant. No road noise because it's secluded. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and special break, We also looked at the wedding and conferencing facilities because we're nosey, and they look absolutely spot on.

United KingdomA few surprise pot holes in the drive and some unresponsive sash windows were the only minor issues.
The food was outstanding and the "a la carte" menu gave a good choice, balancing quality and quantity. Breakfast was also a joy, well cooked and produced to order. The bed was "so good" my wife has insisted we have to buy a new mattress.

United KingdomDue to our booked junior suite, we were offered the bridal suite as an upgrade. Unfortunately, the water went cold after one shower, a light was flickering and some of the mastic in the bathroom needed replacing.

United KingdomPlease consider more hooks and shelves: - We had nowhere to put our wet coats (we didn’t fancy hanging them in the cupboard among our other clothes). It would have been nice to have somewhere to hang things in the entrance area. - Also, a mat to put shoes in the entrance area? Again, there was a lot of rain and muddy conditions, I’m sure this would save your carpet! - There was nowhere to put our toiletries, despite having a large bathroom. A shelf or small table would have been useful.
The suite was lovely and quiet, with a nice view of the garden from the living area and a comfortable king bed. The cooked breakfast was delicious and the staff attended us very quickly. All staff members were friendly and welcoming.

United Kingdom£29 steak: mushroom covered in oil. Not worth the price. The lock to the Lodge is fiddly. Maybe put a sign up to instruct turning the key halfway. Better still, use automated key cards. The same for the rooms. Fiddly keys, with clunky, soft wooden do not disturb signs. The combination is cumbersome, if you're coming and going throughout the day and want to leave sign on door.
I was ill and the staff were very considerate, kind and helpful. Carlo, the General Manager, is very hands on; treats his staff and guests well. Shout out to Chris, night porter, for accommodating me. Absolutely beautiful, value for money Ham n cheese baguettes with chips, from day time menu.
