Very nice welcome when we arrived approx 1600 from a very helpful lady. Nice comfortable room and bed. Bedding and towels were nice quality too. Bathroom contained a walk in shower with power shower.Tasteful decoration all through. Whilst breakfast is not served at this pub there was fresh milk in the fridge in the room With that was muesli, yoghurts and fresh fruit which were not chargeable, crockery/cutlery provided too. Good tea and coffee making facilities with cookies supplied too. All in all nice touches. We stayed on a Sundaynight , Sunday Lunch was on offer up to 1730, there is also a menu for other food which looks very nice. The pub was snug and comfortable and we spent a nice Sunday evening there . This is a local pub for some but not overly busy. It is also child friendly. We enjoyed our stay very much and will be booking again on our next trip to Winchester.

Minor faults only, couldn't open the windows, think the sash cord was broken, and tv was side on to bed....

It was a great pub, lots of character and attention to detail. Breakfast was Yoghurt, Granola, fruit and muffins. All kept in a fridge. Cups and saucers, tea pot and coffee cafetiere. Great location, 10mins walk into Winchester. Staff were very friendly and helpful, free parking right outside.

There was an issue with the toilet which was difficult to flush with the overflow running noisily throughout the night. Happy to accept this was a rare occurrence and would have been rectified quickly if we had been staying for more than one night.

Room and dinner were both up to expectations and deserved a five rating. Generally provided excellent value although the wine seemed more expensive than would have been expected.

Although the breakfast in frig was a good idea, it was a bit heavy - but certainly set one up for the day.

Surprisingly parking easier than anticipated. Good bar and ales.

The WiFi in our room was very poor. It was better downstairs but could do with boosting in the rooms. The bathroom had a great shower but the toilet needs attention. The refilling cistern was broken resulting in a loud groaning noise or the constant sound of water running as it refilled the cistern. At one point it stopped flushing and a lovely staff member came and tinkered with it. It’s an old building so plumbing will be a little cranky but this could definitely do with being fixed.

Lovely friendly staff, great location and a very comfortable bed. The room was really clean and the food in the downstairs restaurant was great. We enjoyed sitting in the pub in the evenings it had a really friendly atmosphere.

Reading, in the evening, was challenging because the lighting was very subdued. In the bathroom, the light above the sink was faulty and very unreliable; not a big deal but doing my makeup was tricky!

Pleasant room, very comfortable bed, clean, nicely furnished and plenty of storage. Free permit so no issue parking, by the pub. It is really well located, just 10mins stroll into Winchester. We stayed at the pub for three nights and the food was so good we ate there every evening. All staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was provided in the room’s fridge; much nicer than it sounds! The granola, muffins, fresh fruit and yogurts were all delicious. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location within a pleasant, short walk of the town centre and with free parking. Friendly, helpful staff, nice ambience in the pub and comfortable room. Quiet neighbourhood, making an ideal base at a fair price and perfect for what we wanted.

I think the chap on the bar needs to improve his Irish coffee making technique but I didn’t complain and am sure the staff would have remedied this minor issue.

Great location, lovely pub, helpful staff, comfortable room, lovely in room tea coffee and breakfast selection
