Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomEvening meal wasn't all that great. There were a few items on the menu that interested me but I decided to play it safe and ordered a sirlion steak (medium) with chips, tomato and mushrooms. I received a well done sirlion that even the knife had trouble cutting through and the chips weren't all that great either. Thoughts afterwards were should I have gone for the Fish & Chips or the Pie & Mash. Anyway, I opted not to follow on with desert just in case.
Room was small but I was only staying for one night. The bed was comfortable and the staff were pleasant.

United KingdomOur room a little small. Not particularly characterful for an old pub. Not in the country but only a short drive to Gloucester. Bristol Road busy.

United KingdomNo issues from my point of view.
I was in the small bedroom but I found it big enough for an overnight stay with the required comforts including a reasonably sized en-suite. The food in the property is really good. I had initially planned to eat out but pleased I stayed in to try it out. Breakfast was very good also. Engagement with staff was very warm and welcoming.

United Kingdomonly downside was the noise.. we stayed in room 2 next to the fire door from the bar and the front door from the car park and the 1st night I literally had no sleep whatsoever thus totally ruining the next day through lack of sleep.. from 23 hours till dawn there were many people coming and going making lots of noise and doors slamming, the 2nd night was a little better but still very little sleep.. otherwise all good but I would personally recommend staying here but definitely NOT in room 2
Location is good, hotel is lovely, all staff are lovely and very helpful, excellent restaurant and good bar offering some very good beers, spirits and wines.. the rooms are large and extremely clean and easy parking..

United KingdomWe had 2 rooms (standard doubles) and one of the rooms had a fairly pronounced unpleasant smell of drains. Unfortunately, my partner didn't tell me about it until the morning! But it was even detectable in the corridor outside. We reported it.
Staff were helpful and friendly. Bar food and breakfast was very good. Great value for money overall.

United KingdomWe had booked into their small double room. This should really be a single room. There was only one bedside table with lamp, and barely any room between the bed and the walls. The mattress was very soft, which if you like that is fine. However, we prefer a firmer mattress. Otherwise, it was a lovely room, clean and tidy.
The building is beautiful, a really old thatch building with beautiful grounds. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a full English breakfast, which was really good. There were lots of hot selections and cold continental options laid out on the bar.

United KingdomWe stayed in room 18 on the first floor. Found it a bit tricky getting in and out of the shower cubical. We are in our early 70's and reasonably fit so maybe ask for a disabled room if you struggle a bit. There were two single beds as per our request which were sadly VERY VERY uncomfortable. The mattresses were lumpy and we certainly felt the springs! We felt the mattresses would be better suited to children. One of the beds had a single duvet with a double cover on it which was not ideal. Friends also staying at the same time said their double bed was fine. I received many emails about the booking which became confusing as one was cancelling the booking... possibly Bookingdotcom?
We stayed in Room 18 which was pleasant and quiet so a good start. There were two single beds as per our request. Breakfast was great. We were disappointed there were no pancakes even though listed on the menu. Bedding was crisp and clean. Only one extra blanket for two separate beds. A little attention to those details would go far. TV worked well. Radiator certainly kept the room warm on a cold late November night.

United KingdomBathroom not great - smell of sewage / blocked drain smell - big leak between the shower head / connecting hose leaving it with a very low water pressure. Very busy hallway outside of the room , next room was up until 1am with people going in & out , knocking on their door, children squealing, dog barking , talking loudly ......
Nice friendly atmosphere, free parking, nice food, very clean & really interesting building. TV was free view based and had YouTube app enabled. Nice warm room from heated towel rail and central heating - was able too cool down by opening the window a crack.

United KingdomNothing negative to say other than we paid for a Small double room and we felt that the fixed desk and chair is too much in a small double. This is not needed and makes the room more cramped particularly when you need to walk past this in the night if you need the bathroom!
Location from the City Centre is perfect, we actually walked on the first day into the City by the canal path and back again. On the second day we caught a bus (that the bus stop is virtually opposite the property) and walked back

United KingdomThere was a mix-up with the payment for the rooms. I had paid in full in advance but when we checked in I was told that I had only paid for 1 room. The matter was only resolved 4 hours later when we went to eat, when a member of staff apologised and said it was their mistake.
The room was spotless and comfy. The location was great for our needs. We ate-in for our evening meal which was very nice, good value for money.
