Our dog friendly room at the back is not the brightest of rooms. Food is fine but not the best . Our burger and fish and chips were a bit average.

The Ness is a lively hotel. It’s homely with a relaxed nautical feel. The shower was excellent. Position in Shaldon is lovely. It was dog friendly. I like that the pub and dining rooms are available for food and drinks.

Disappointed with the menu, it doesn't seem to have been changed in a while, and there wasn't much variety, and very expensive for what it is.

Breakfast was nice and the bed very comfy, the shower great. Lovely view.

I Booked a night's stay seeing the "dog friendly" headline on the website. Reading the terms and conditions the next morning, I discovered there were only certain rooms that were dog friendly.! I called straight away and the lady that answered the phone couldn't have been any more helpful. It was sorted out within minutes. Considering it was my fault, I came off the call knowing we'd have a fab stay. We ate at the hotel that night too and again the staff (a young lad, and tall lady with dark hair) were really helpful. Our small cockapoo likes to think she's human and does not like laying on the floor ,why would she 🙃😊 Again I asked if we put a blanket on the chair, would it be acceptable to let her sit on the chair at the table. The lady was like of course and even offered us one of their blankets. Overall it's nice to find a proper dog friendly pub. Food was lovely and staff really friendly and welcoming.

Our room was very comfortable but the bathroom floor was not great as it was made up of pebbles and the toilet brush definitely needs replacing!!

The location and views were fab. The cooked breakfast was great and very evening meals were also really nice.

We so enjoyed being at The Ness that we decided to have some lunch there . Big disappointment. The menu offered some great options so we chose salmon and fish pie. Some parts of the food were so overcooked that you couldn't bite into them. On the other hand the vegetables we had were undercooked and it was all very expensive for what we had. Would definitely return for a drink, but certainly not for the food. We later found a pub in Teignmouth that served fabulous food for half the price.

Fabulous location. Loved the accommodation. Very clean and spacious room. Beautiful restaurant with superb views across the estuary. Breakfast was very tasty, although we weren't offered any bread or butter other than the amount that was served with the main course. Wondered why there were jam and honey pots? Otherwise there was a fabulous choice of fruits, yogurts, cereals and croissants. I especially loved the fruit juices. We chose the vegan breakfast and really enjoyed it. The avocados were fresh and the potatoes, mushroom and tomatoes were served hot along with our slice of sourdough bread. The staff are very friendly and polite and we really appreciated their helpfulness.

The building itself is lovely and well kept. The room was amazing with a pretty view looking out to sea. The staff were all lovely, very friendly and nothing was too much hassle. The food in the restaurant for dinner was very enjoyable, breakfast was laid out beautifully with lots of options to order for hot breakfast food, speedy service too

Great food, but quite expensive! Wine also pricey. Room lovely, although going out in the rain to access restaurant not ideal. A bit cheeky to include the service charge automatically in the final bill!

Comfortable and cosy room. Lovely location of hotel with stunning views. Helpful and friendly staff. Quiet and relaxing stay.
