Explaining when booking about the building work outside the rear of the hotel

The room we were given overlooked building work. We asked to change to a room at the front of the hotel and they gave us a room upgrade to accommodate this. Very helpful staff.

The main light being the big mirror was a little unnerving, but absolutely fine once I realised. There were two lamps though and that was perfectly adequate for lighting.

The hotel was well presented, the rooms were nice, and the staff were really helpful. The gym was also a great bonus and I appreciated having it available for use.

Location was attached to the station, central for city centre. Unfortunately since our last visit the square in front of the hotel has been pedestrianised, which we didn’t realise and I drove onto it, ooops! However, Dean, the manager, came to our rescue, pointed us in the direction to the car park, and cleared our mistake with two advancing policemen. Phew! His help didn’t stop there as he upgraded our room, and sorted a breakfast hiccup. 12 out of 10 for Dean, and the rest of the staff. Very good breakfast too.

I would have given it top marks but the plug in the bathroom sink was jammed in meaning I couldn’t use it and there was mould in the shower hidden behind the sliding door. This was exposed when in the shower having closed the door. Otherwise, clean and comfortable.

Outside window of my room would not shut so only had the secondary glazing meaning quite noisy from the outside front of the hotel.

Great staff on reception and hotel looked great after the revamp. Also breakfast staff and food amazing.

Bar staff - the young men working were ignoring the polite middle aged people waiting to be served to focus on the young drunk girls that came in after!

Reception & concierge staff were really lovely. Fantasic welcome at check-in and check out. Rooms were functional, modern & clean as were communal areas. Great location.

The location was great. Reception staff extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was perfect for a one night stay and the bed so comfortable. Breakfast was great too. We will visit again.

The shower wasn’t very good with the pressure of it, and the dressing table mirror is too high up to do make up/ hair. We was put in a room that the scenery was a brick wall but it didn’t bother us too much

How welcoming and helpful the staff was. The bed was so comfortable I had the best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time! The room was beautiful and clean and spacious. The hotel decor was absolutely beautiful

The room was quite small. However, I did book a small double, so I guess that's to be expected.

Great location next to the train station and restaurants, lovely building and lobby area. Great decor, comfortable bed, good bathroom facilities. Great breakfast.

Everything very welcoming from start to finish. Very friendly and attentive staff Beautiful clean reception and speedy check in our room was ready which was an added bonus as goiyto a concert. Our cosy room was lovely and comfortable Breakfast fabulous choices. Thank you will book again. X

I could have done without the fire alarm at midnight... but that was likely someone messing around on a Friday night, so not the hotel's fault.

The location, decor, atmosphere, etc. were just perfect. We had a lovely stay.

Staff in the Grand Pacific (the hotel's dining/cocktail bar) were not welcoming. Focused on telling us where we couldn't sit rather than where we could. Wouldn't take our order at our table even though there were three people behind the bar and the six of us were the only customers. We had to each go to the bar separately.

Reception staff were excellent.
