Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing.
Everything. We booked last minute on the day. Had a double room with ensuite and a courtyard view. Room & bathroom lovely and clean, beautifully decorated with aircon in room and heating & underfloor heating in bathroom. The location was perfect next to the river, with parking at the train station 10 minute walk away, drop off spaces outside hotel. Breakfast was delicious, excellent quality food, good choice and served until 10am with room checkout 11am so no need to rush on departure day. Hotel looks fabulous. Staff helpful & friendly.

United KingdomGreat staff, we were welcomed by Patrick who was very helpful and pleasant. It seems that the hotel has been recently upgraded and we benefited from this in our room. we had a very comfortable bed with top quality bed linen and the refurbished bathroom was appreciated.

United KingdomNo complaints at all. I stay in many hotels for work and this was one of the most comfortable hotels I have stayed in for a while. Wish I could have stayed longer!
Lovely hotel and all the staff were very helpful. I mentioned that I would love a bath (on a call about parking before I arrived) and the lady on reception ensure my room had a bath. (which was lovely).

Location, ambience and friendliness of staff. Very comfortable bed, I was a little unhappy with first room as it had a brick wall view but was swiftly moved to a river view, thank you x

United KingdomNo on-site parking, nearest car park (at the station) is 5-10 minute walk away but we were aware of this and had downloaded the relevant parking app before hand. However you can drop off right outside the front door. Not a dislike as such, but the cosy bar gets full very easily and appears to be popular with local business people. Believe there might be another lounge somewhere but we weren't shown it.
Room was spacious and well equipped as was bathroom. The hotel was spotless throughout. The young team were all friendly and efficient. We ate in the restaurant which was excellent. Good menu choices and all the dishes (we were a group of seven) were well cooked and presented (definitely the best hotel restaurant in Henley, possibly the best overall). There was a good ambiance in both the bar and restaurant. Breakfast was good but perhaps not to the standard of the food in the evening. Though not particularly cheap, compared to other hotels in the town it offers very good value for money

The staff were all super. Because there is no parking on site(drop off is fine),I rang the hotel before arriving, and the receptionist was really helpful explaining we could park overnight in the Rugby Club for £10. When we arrived ,we left our cases and drove the half mile (10 minute walk back) The reception then advised on local pubs, rang taxis to and from our wine tasting at Chiltern Valley. We ate in the restaurant ,great food and service. Again ,lovely staff. Breakfast the next morning was magnificent. All in all ,super stay.

United KingdomI didn't read the email properly and hadn't realised there wasn't a car park. The staff were very helpful and pointed us in the direction of the train station car park which was only a few minutes walk away so it wasn't a problem
We loved the hotel - every staff member made us feel very welcome, the room was beautiful and location perfect for a relaxing break.

The location is ideal, right in the heart of Henley. The building is beautifully presented and very welcoming. The staff are very attentive, upon arrival of the room there was a welcoming letter written by the hotel manager. We then went out for the evening and returned to the room where the bed had been turned down. Little touches that make a massive difference. We have stayed at the other top hotel in Henley - multiple times - and never received such top quality service as we did at the Relais. We will certainly be returning

United KingdomWe were disappointed with the catering staff. Both the bar staff and the breakfast staff. Also, there were pancakes on the menu and as we were there the day after shrove Tuesday would have liked these but were told there was no batter left(!) Surely a hotel of your standing would have a chef that could mix up a pancake mixture in less than 5 mins! Also, the waitress should have known that before taking our order, so we wouldn't have been disappointed. The catering staff in general were not particularly welcoming or accommodating.
The staff on reception were particularly welcoming and accommodating and the room lovely.

United KingdomSo many positives about this hotel but I would recommend they find more local parking options and invest in much better pillows. Our room was beautifully decorated, super comfortable bed, but we thought our pillows were disappointing. Not up to the high standards set elsewhere in the hotel.
Absolutely delicious food from Dominic Chapman restaurant. Beautiful historical building in the heart of a picturesque market riverside town. Tastefully decorated with a very comfortable homely feel. Loved it.

United KingdomVery old building, beams from 1662 ? I think 🤔 Creaky stairs, big doors, wood everywhere, good service, good food, only fault was Sat Nav couldn’t find it so took a while ! Had it been described as at end of bridge, would’ve found it easily !
