Other reviewers mentioned there is an emergency light on the ceiling. It just gives a dim green glow and absolutely did not cause us any problem. Parking on the street outside was fine. Pub is on the top of a hill so you do park on a slope. Really not a problem. You have to fit in if you want to enjoy this place. If you go with it, it's a blast!

This was an inexpensive room in a genuine Yorkshire village pub. Good hearty welcome. The pub was heaving with locals on Friday night when we stayed - all catching up with friends and the business of the week. We were clearly outsiders but made to feel very welcome by staff and customers. We chatted with people around us and all were accommodating - we loved it. The place is definitely not designer chic, or particularly rustic - just a good, honest, simple place catering to the local village and any one passing by. Food was excellent (not high class restaurant, but very well prepared, plentiful and tasty). Excellent fish specials menu on Friday night, with free bottle of wine if order 2 fish mains. 5 real ales on tap and we tried 3 of them! Room was simple but perfectly adequate. Beds are simple but comfortable enough. Bathroom is basic but in good condition and everything works. Everything very clean. Usual kettle + tea/coffee/biscuits. Nice outlook over neighbouring houses to rear of pub. Very quiet at night, though we could hear our neighbour showering when in our bathroom. Fantastic & large full cooked breakfast + tea/coffee + toast. Probably not much other choice. Finishes by 9am.

On road parking, which was made clear at booking. Its an old building and therefore you can hear noise from the bar and other rooms as soon as people start moving around. Was a midweek stay so quiet in the bar, but could still hear everything, would need the earplugs at the weekends would suggest. To be expected given the age of the building - just worth noting.

Well appointed room, clean and comfortable. Food and Service in the bar were excellent. Fantastic breakfast and quick.

Very friendly pub with good food and drink. Excellent service from owner and staff. Lovely location in Yorkshire close to Leeds, Huddersfield and Sheffield but a feeling of being in the countryside.

A perfect stay in this fabulous pub. Beautiful, clean and exceptionally comfortable. Our hosts were especially welcoming. Great food and a fun evening quiz. Would definitely recommend this for a lovely place to stay. We'll certainly return.

No on site parking, but was forewarned by host. Hotel on top of the hill so parking could be downhill someway.

Warm welcome from our host. Warm, comfortable twin room. Shower over bath, with excellent water pressure. Was recommended to reserve for evening meal, which we did. Food excellent. Breakfast served in the morning was freshly cooked to choice, with tea/coffee, toast etc. Excellent views from outside hotel over the moors.

Richard was very welcoming even though he had a large party in the bar. The evening staff were very professional, attentive and created a lovely atmosphere in the bar/eating area. The room had all the facilities that you needed. The bed was very comfortable. The evening meal was one of the best we had had in a while. It was freshly cooked and plentiful on the plate. The choice on the main menu was extensive as well as the special menu. Breakfast again was very plentiful and relaxed. This was real value for money.

The location is in some excellent countryside but a little further out from our main destination than we had expected. But quality and great value for money.

Nice room with a comfortable bed and drink making facilities with biscuits! The breakfast was beautifully cooked with very good incredients. The price was very good giving excellent value for money, Staff were friendly and efficient and we would use this B& B again. The dinner menu smelt wonderful so will try and time our next visit so we can eat more than breakfast.

i loved this place - room was superb comfortable and very clean - staff were great and enjoyed a conversation - the food was amazing the portions were very big and what a choice of meals amazing - breakfast set me up for the whole day will stop again
