A very friendly welcome and the most gorgeous summer beer garden. This is a beautiful tranquil setting just far enough away from busy Ambleside or Windermere, while both are easy to get to. The family running this are kind, full of smiles and know how to make you (and your dogs!) feel at home.

The weather!

Warm welcome, large comfortable and clean room. Good food for dinner from wide choice of food/beers/wine with good service. Nice breakfast, again with good choice and service. Very convenient for Beatrice Potter location ( though we didn't go)

The family that run the inn were extremely friendly, helpful and professional. We had a wonderful stay and the fact that the inn is extremely dog friendly was a bonus. The room was warm, comfortable and clean with all of the necessary amenities. We had a lovely last minute break and we will certainly be back.

Peaceful location for our hiking trip with excellent restaurant & really spacious & comfortable rooms with lots of added luxuries. Excellent gf/vegetarian menu & child friendly.

some public areas a bit worn but it actually added to the ambience!

Really enjoyed our stay here, from the welcome to the goodbye. The room was well appointed and cosy with a large bathroom. Breakfast was a good selection and generous. We ate one night in the restaurant and found the food great quality at a good price all served with a smile

Having to leave !

Everything at Cuckoo Brow is excellent . Firstly the welcome at Reception , and then being taken to your room . The service in the bar is very friendly and efficient .The choice of real ales , ciders and lagers is great , there is something for everyone . The wine list is good too . Dinner was served in the bar and the choice of menu is excellent as is the quality of the food . I recommend the lamb roast dinner if your stay includes a Sunday evening . The bar is bustling with locals and guests alike . The rooms are spotlessly clean with excellent facilities and comfy beds . Towels are plentiful . Breakfast was a delight with cereals and fresh croissants , and a fantastic cooked option . It’s the little things that are a delight like being offered mixed slices of toast and large portions of butter that you can spread . Great tasting coffee rounds off the breakfast experience , The staff are all a delight and love to chat to you and are genuinely interested in making sure you have a good experience . Thank you Cuckoo Brow team , I will be back soon !

Such a beautiful classic English pub, superb staff and dog friendly throughout the entire pub. Really makes a difference that it’s just so easy! Superb location for exploring, menu was varied and the portions hearty.

Nothing to dislike ..

The inn is in delightful quiet location, yet easy to get too, and with £1 quick ferry to Bowness a short walk away, for those wanting a change of scenery. Lovely walks on the doorstep, 2 pubs and Joey s cafe all close. This is a cosy, friendly inn which we like, but not fancy/gastro style which others might prefer. All in all, very good value.
