Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Unfortunately the plug in my bathroom sink (Room 25) was not working, so could not fill the sink to get a proper wash and shave. Also there was black mould on the ceiling in the shower.
The food at my evening meals was very nicely cooked and well presented - tasted good too.

I had breakfast which is a buffet style, help yourself affair. The fried eggs, of which there were plenty, had dried out somewhat. I was probably at fault for NOT asking for fresh ones, I'm sure they would have been forthcoming. The only other thing, the pillows in my room, of which there were plenty, all seemed a bit flat.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was my 1st impression, which counts for a lot. The room and bathroom were clean and well appointed. The bar was open 24 hours, and the restaurant open from midday until 21.00. I had dinner there the 2nd night, and couldn't finish my mixed grill, there was that much.

Breakfast and Gluten free was not the best on day 1. With feedback they greatly improved, They changed and addapted, cant ask to much more than that.
Staff were great, very attentive. Evening meal was amazing for gluten free. The location was a short walk to the centre and to the water front.

No lift to upper floor..
The only issue was that there was no lift. Access to room on top look was via a beautiful spiral staircase. Caring two 16kg suitcases was not easy. I am sure however that if asked they could have assisted. A beautiful well looked after building.

The room was smaller than we expected for the price and the room facilities felt a bit sparce, for example no fridge, no biscuits etc. Breakfast choices were excellent but service made the whole thing very uncomfortable. My wife ordered porridge followed by poached egg on toast. The egg arrived on a plate by itself and she was told to get her toast from the toaster in the dining room, by which time her egg was cold. Then her porridge arrived! It was cold and lumpy - obviously was not fresh. My full breakfast was very good.
The location was good and the welcome excellent. The hotel interior is very interesting because of its age and design. Bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The bathroom and shower were good.

No complaints. I’ve been to the tontine a couple of times for functions and events and enjoyed it every time.
The style of the building, decor and common areas with a nice traditional smart town hotel. Juxtaposed with the stylish 1808 bar and restaurant downstairs is a very nice balance.

It was cold when I arrived I had difficulty finding the hotel parking entrance The pillows were a bit lumpy.

Wi Fi just didn't work. They also put the toilet rolls on a spike next to the toilet. This has now become common in the hotel industry. This is absorbent paper in a location where it will be splashed with pee.
Staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. Dinner was excellent, served in a resonable amount of time (not too quick and not too slow).

Some complementary water would be nice and a fridge would be helpful.
Great hotel. Our room was large and comfortable. Nice big bathroom. Building has character, grand staircase. The public bar area was great and the food was lovely.

Slightly dated decor in room .
Lovely hotel in a central location . The staff were very friendly and helpful . Easy to park both outside the hotel and in their own car park . Breakfast was good .
