Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomRoom felt cold, we think because it's probably a listed building and the windows were rattling with the high winds outside. We had to close the curtains and turn on the heating.
Spacious rooms. Very clean. Stylish decor. All in all, beautiful hotel in a great location and exceptionally good value for money.

United KingdomAs it was an old building, the room was a bit dated and the windows single glazed. A bit of noise from outside. I was in an upgraded room but couldn't work out what was better about it. WIFI did not work.
Location is good. Room is a good size. Bed comfortable

United KingdomThe room itself (apart from the bathroom) felt a bit small but it wasn't an issue though the windows were not great at blocking the external sounds and noise, even when full shut, which wasn't ideal given how loud it was outside on Saturday night.
The location was outstanding in the middle of Harrogate's centre. The hotel was well-maintained and offered a great first impression. The room was comfortable and everything in it felt new and clean. The bathroom was very spacious.

United KingdomThe bathroom of our standard double was very (very) narrow. It was barely shoulder width wide, other than at the shower end of the room. The shower was also a little snug.
The hotel was in a great location, and the staff were very welcoming. The breakfast room has amazing views over the rooftops of Harrogate, and the waiting staff were very accommodating.

United KingdomWe booked a table in the Pickled Sprout, the restaurant situated in the hotel. Unfortunately, they had a regular beer club event organised for that evening and the few tables in the restaurant were pushed into the corner. As the bar filled up the club members moved into the restaurant and stood talking. This was quite intimidating as we were the only ones seated and eating our meal at one point and we felt we were intruding on the organised event. It would have been better if we were made aware of the event and we would have booked another evening.
We visited The Yorkshire a few years ago. At the time it was undergoing refurbishment and our room and the facilities were below par. However, we realised it was a major operation and decided to come back this year. We were delighted with the changes that have been made and our room was large and comfortable and overlooked the flower gardens in front of the hotel. We had a lovely time and would recommend the hotel to future guests. A further advantage is that it is ideally placed for the town centre.

United KingdomThe size of the room was disappointing and didn’t look like the picture online. It was small and dark with a poor view from the window - the back of the hotel with towels piled up in adjacent windows. Very little space as soon as you opened the door and around the bed.
The age and character of the hotel with lots of original features - that was the highlight. The location was perfect. The bathroom was lovely although adding a few extras would have been nice eg shower cap. Breakfast was lovely with good views of Harrogate.

United KingdomMember of cleaning staff wanted to service the room at 9:15am and was obviously not happy when told not convenient.
Beautiful old building, full of character, the perfect location in the heart of Harrogate. Large room, spotlessly clean and comfortable, with a fantastic view overlooking Montpellier hill and gardens. Members of staff on reception could not have been more helpful or professional.

United KingdomThe whole hotel was painted grey, walls dado rails and skirting then there was grey carpet and bed base. The windows were dirty. Our room view from the window was walls and roof of floor below. The lifts are tiny and can only hold half the recommended number of people. The 2nd days breakfast was cold and that was when it had just opened. There was a broken floor board in our room the furniture was a little tired. Very limited parking. Expensive restaurant. Not what I expected of a four star hotel.
First day breakfast was lovely second day it was cold. Was accessable for shopping and clean enough. TV had many channels to choose from. Staff on reception were lovely.
