Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe bathroom needs urgent updating. It didn't feel very clean and especially breakfast cutlery etc. was positively dirty.
We could check in earlier than the relatively late 4pm check in time advertised. This was much appreciated as we had been walking and it was now raining. The room was nice and bed comfortable.

United KingdomWe received a warm welcome from owner Anika on our arrival. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable and we settled in quickly. I had sent an advance message to Anika warning her of my wife's wheat allergy. Very kindly she baked a special gluten-free loaf which added to an already superb breakfast with fresh fruit salad, other home made breads and speciality jams and marmalade. A thoroughly pleasant stay in a glorious village.

United KingdomIt's in a desperate need for a deep clean. Carpets were simply dirty, dust is hanging from the ceiling. There is a very strong smell of pet urine everywhere (mixed with this very specific smell of an old buildings and furniture we all know). You can find a dog poo on the floor in the common room. Such a shame as it's really beautiful building. I'm a pet person and wouldn't mention it if the problem was not extreme. My husband couldn't sleep due to a strong smell. Perfect place to take some pictures and go, wouldn't stay there for longer than one night.
It's a beautiful old building. Very nicely decorated, has this feeling of a cute dollhouse. The lady owner is very nice and friendly. There was no option to book a breakfast but we received muesli and milk instead, which is a nice touch. Good quality bathroom cosmetics, warm water. Old Rectory is nicely located, close to Tintern Abbey and lovely walking paths. Amazing place for some photoshoots.

United KingdomIt’s a bit of a climb up to the room, but it keeps you fit!
The friendliness of the host and the room were amazing. Thanks to the age and position of the building it stayed lovely and cool. I was surprised how much space we got for our money. The breakfast was healthy and simple. There’s a bit of a boho vibe going on here.

United KingdomIt wasn't a bit deal but the parking is in the road opposite but we didn't know do when we got there we had to call first to find out.
We booked this room by pure chance since we were staying nearby but our hotel didn't have availability for the Saturday. The village of Tintern is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. The b&b was very quirky, and the rooms were decorated with so much attention to detail. The owner was a very nice lady who was super welcoming. She recommended a restaurant the wild hare where we had a fantastic meal.

United KingdomEverything was to our liking.
We had a warm welcome from the owner, Anneke, and her 4 little dogs. The property has a faded charm about it and has many nice touches which made us feel at home. We enjoyed our breakfast which included smoked salmon, frittata, delicious bread with home made jams and marmalade. Soya milk was available. The location is stunning in the beautiful village of Tintern. Our room at the front of the property had a view over the river Wye and rolling hills. Tintern Abbey is very nearby.

United KingdomSmell of toilet at night, understandable I suppose with the age of building & pipework. Unfortunate smell of animals which put us off from staying for breakfast. Main light in room flickered on & off so we just used bed side lights.

United KingdomSlow WiFi. Initially directed to wrong web domain. Once sorted it did work OK. No secure parking as across the road from house. Too many steps to room.
My choice not to have breakfast as I was leaving very early. Too many steps for me up to house and room. However host helped take things up. Host friendly and accommodating. Room and bathroom was quaint and very comfortable and clean. Was very quiet.

United KingdomUnfortunately the boiler didn't work so there was no heating and no hot water. until 11.00 at night when the immersion eventually had a chance to kick in. Informing the other guests to wait before using the hot water would have helped.
