How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

70’s decor, in need of refurbishment but can be overlooked due to the friendliness of the staff.
Ease of parking. Only 15 minutes from ferry port. Friendliness and professionalism of duty manager (Sue) Dinky bar and excellent bar keeper!

For the price, I wouldn’t say that anything needs to be improved.
Very good value for money. Excellent quality breakfast made to order. Ample parking. Short walk into the centre of Fareham. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Comfortable bed for a good night’s sleep.

Unfortunately, the bed was a bit uncomfortable, perhaps at end of life. Minor issue, very small TV.

Perhaps would have preferred a self-service style breakfast but that's a very minor point.
Nice little hotel. Very friendly staff.. Comfy bed and good shower... That's all I really wanted.. Breakfast was fine... No complaints. Convenient for M27 and Fareham/Gosport.. We will use it again next time we visit relatives in the area.

The decor in the room was a bit tired and the bed not the most comfy.
I just needed a bed for a night so didn't sample breakfast but there were tea bags, coffee, water etc in my room. The room was adequate in size and along with the ensuite was immaculately clean.

First would I go back - 100% yes. The decor is old and tired. The bathroom could do with a refresh BUT perfectly adequate in view of the price. I was happy, enjoyed the stay (bed was so comfy one of the best I've had in any hotel) but be prepared for old style decor and old fixtures and fittings.
Really comfortable bed and great shower. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. Quiet. Easy to find. Fabulous welcoming staff.

The dining area needs some atmosphere, maybe some laid tables, even a few tablecloths, a flower or two perhaps ?
The lack of room services was a surprise but Anita was more than attentive and provided all our needs. The breakfast was adequate but the dining area needs some atmosphere, it was like a factory canteen. Overall, we’d go there again, just to see Anita, she was great.

Place is a bit dated, the bed was really uncomfortable, couldn't get the shower to work after changing the switch to a bath.
Staff were lovely and really helpful. It was nice and clean, location was great for me and I was given a cot for my little one. All in good condition and very clean. Tea, coffee and kettle, hairdryer, breakfast room looked great but not great for children.

There was little to complain about as my needs were provided for well. Nit picking issues are totally irrelevant.
It was completely in line with my needs. I was attending a funeral and the breakfast, service and accommodation were exactly as needed.

The bed was earthed small and the shower was over the bath.

The rooms are a little dated. The room was very cold on arrival so putting the heating on would have been good from check in time. Also the heated towel rail in bathroom did not work so was chilly using bathroom. Easily addressed and would make big difference.
Location is perfect for central Fareham and the marina visiting family. The staff were very helped and Friendly, especially the irish lady on reception and young lady at breakfast. The breakfast options were great and Food was freshly cooked to order and piping hot Good coffee and tea facilities in room and bed comfortable and large.
