The bedroom decor was a little tired - especially the curtains which used inadequate rails, sagged and had torn linings. The bathroom radiator did not work for two days so we had to get clean towels each day as the previous allocation remained wet. The bathroom was also chilly to use. The radiator in the bedroom did not supply heat and the backup electric heater struggled to warm the room. An additional small portable heater was provided but again struggled. Luckily the weather improved after the second day and this was less of an issue. Dinner at the hotel was adequate but we were expecting rather more from the reviews. Surprised that cocktails were not an option at the bar.

The Hotel has a nice location with ample parking. Staff were consistently polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were good and choice plentiful. The suit was large and the bed comfortable.

We were booked into room 14 which is a very small double. There was no heat in the En-suite not even a heated towel rail. Hence it was really cold so we had to put the additional heater on in the room and leave the En-suite door open. This meant that the room was restricted as the open door blocked access past the bed. The mattress on the bed needs replacing because every time you made the slightest move the springs creaked. This also was the case in room 32 which was booked for our Granddaughter on the 29th March. We reported this to reception when we booked out and were informed that you were in the process of updating mattresses. We hope this is the case and that these two rooms are early in the programme.

All the staff were very polite and friendly especially the restaurant staff who were very professional. The food was excellent both in the restaurant and at breakfast. Good selection of wines. We were at our Nephew's wedding on 29th March. The wedding organisation was brilliant as was the wedding breakfast afterwards.

It was in a picturesque spot. My room had a very nice view, a comfortable bed and very clean. Seemed very peaceful at night. The staff were polite and helpful. The sticky toffee pudding in the restaurant was lovely!

Some issues with heating and hot water, but staff dealt with them, so not a major issue. The steps to reception are really deep!

Overall Hotel was quite cold especially bar area in the afternoon and the restuarant was freezing. Not much choice at dinner . Despite plenty of characterful fireplaces no fire. It was February. Drinks were expensive.

The room was way too warm and ventilation was poor causing a lot of condensation on the windows which Is a shame. Bed was very small and uncomfortable. Sleep also broken by the light coming from around the door - maybe this could be fixed with a black out curtain?

Lovely spacious suite with the largest bathroom I think I have ever seen. The building itself is beautiful as are the gardens and direct access onto the river path.
